GF82.61-P-4112CAA Component Description For Radio With Auto Pilot System
- with CODE (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
Component Identification:
Location
The radio with auto pilot system is located in the center console.
Task
The radio with auto pilot system has the following tasks:
^ Main operating unit of the entertainment and communication systems
^ Reading in of signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuating of system components
Main operating unit of the entertainment and communication systems
The radio with auto pilot system provides the user with a structured and uniform interface for the following system components:
- Audio (radio/CD/DVD/AUX)
- Communication (telephone (with address book function), read short message service (SMS))
- Navigation (arrow navigation in instrument cluster (A1) and 2-D map display in the Audio/COMAND display)
- Voice control system (VCS [SBS]), (only with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer)
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN)
^ media-oriented system transport (MOST)
Direct line
The following signals are read in via a direct line:
- Wake-up for MOST (bi-directional)
- AUX connection in the glove compartment, for external audio devices (without code (518) Media interface)
- FM, AM and ZV antenna amplifier (A2/18) (model 207.3) or FM, AM and ZV antenna amplifier (A2/55) (model 207.4)
- Rear window FM antenna antenna amplifier (A2/19) (model 207.3) or TV 3, FM2 and DAB band III (A2/55) antenna amplifier (model 207.4)
- Bluetooth antenna (A2/91)
- Multifunction antenna (A28/11)
- Hands-free system microphone (A67b1)
CAN
The radio with auto pilot system is a subscriber of the interior CAN (CAN B) and the telematics CAN (CAN A).
The signals are read in by the radio with auto-pilot system. The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
MOST
The radio with auto-pilot system receives the control and audio signals from the following control unit via MOST:
- Sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3)
(with code (810) Sound system)
- Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3)
(with code (537) Digital radio)
- Media interface control unit (N125/1)
(with code (518) Media interface)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.
Actuation of system components
The following output signals are output by the radio with auto-pilot system to actuate the system components:
- Audio output (speaker) (without code (810) Sound system)
- Switch voltage for mobile phone cradle (A34/15) via the Bluetooth module (A34/7) (with code (386) Comfort telephony)
- Provision of a structured and uniform interface for the following system components:
- Audio system (e.g. "Radio", "CD" (also MP3), "AUX")
- Communication system (e.g. telephone with telephone book function)
- Tone settings (e.g. "bass", "treble", "fader", "balance')
- System settings (e.g. "brightness" and "contrast" of the audio/ COMAND display)
- Video output: low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line transmits picture and video signals from the radio with auto pilot system to the audio/COMAND display

Function
The operating requests that are issued via the button panels on the radio with auto pilot system are read in by the radio itself and made available to the central computer, where they are processed and forwarded to the relevant system components accordingly via the MOST, the telematics CAN or the interior CAN.
If the "ON" button on the radio with auto pilot system is pressed, the radio with auto pilot system switches itself on. The volume for the relevant audio source is regulated by turning the "ON" button. The function keys in the left button panel are used to switch over to the audio source selected by the user or to the system setting.
Variants
The radio with auto pilot system is available in the following variants:
- Audio 50 radio with single DVD drive
(with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio) (without VCS [SBS])
- Audio 50 radio with DVD changer
(with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer) (with VCS [SBS])
Diagnosis
The radio with auto pilot system is the diagnosis gateway for all MOST subscribers. The diagnostic communication takes place between the radio with the auto pilot system and the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) via the interior CAN. The diagnostic communication between the front SAM control unit and the diagnostic connector (X11/4) connected to the "IS tester" is performed via diagnostic CAN (CAN D).
