GF82.62-P-5010CA Sound System Amplifier Control Unit, Component Description
- with CODE (810) Sound system
Component Identification:
Location
The sound system amplifier control unit is located on a bracket in the trunk behind the left paneling.
Task
^ Reading in of signals
^ Decoding signals
^ Supporting and amplifying signals
^ Transmitting signals
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct lines
^ Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
Direct lines
The following signals are read in via a direct line:
- Audio muting (with code (359) TELE AID emergency call system)
- Visual and electrical wake-up
MOST
The sound system amplifier control unit is a MOST subscriber and receives the Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP) copy- protected audio signals from the following control units, for example, in accordance with the vehicle equipment:
- Radio (A2) (with code (510) Audio 20 with CD changer)
- Radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) (with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer or code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio)
- COMAND control unit (A40/3) (with code (512) COMAND with DVD changer or code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or code (528) COMAND with DVD changer)
- TV tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1) (with code (863) Digital/analog TV tuner)
- TV digital tuner (A90/3) (with code (498) Japan version)
- Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3) (with code (537) Digital radio)
- SDAR / high definition tuner control unit (N87/8) (with code (536) SIRIUS satellite radio)
- Media interface control unit (N125/1) (with code (518) Media interface)
Decoding signals
The sound system amplifier control unit decodes DTCP copy- protected audio signals on the basis of the latest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology
DSP means that for the audio range, audio tracks are processed using mathematical algorithms with the objective of improving the sound characteristics.
Supporting and amplifying signals
- Supporting surround sound ("Logic 7")
- Supporting two stereo entertainment channels and three announcement channels (e.g. for voice output of navigation instructions)
- Amplification of decoded audio signals
Transmitting signals
The sound system amplifier control unit transmits signals via the following connection:
^ Direct lines
Direct lines
The following signals are output via a direct line:
- "Line Out" (+ and -) to the rear bass speaker amplifier (N40/9)
- "Remote" for the rear bass speaker amplifier
- Output of audio signals to the following speakers:
- Left door tweeter (H4/1h1)
- Left door bass speaker (H4/1h2)
- Right door tweeter (H4/2h1)
- Right door bass speaker (H4/2h2)
- Left rear tweeter (H4/3h1)
- Left rear bass speaker (H4/3h2)
- Right rear tweeter (H4/4h1)
- Right rear bass speaker (H4/4h2)
- Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
- Rear shelf bass speaker (H4/29)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)
Function
The sound system amplifier control unit is actuated by the radio or the COMAND controller unit. The radio or the COMAND controller unit also provides all menus for user guidance.
Moreover, the following subfunctions are available:
^ Diagnosis
^ Software download
Diagnosis
The diagnosis of the sound system amplifier control unit is performed using the Keyword 2000 protocol. All control units connected to the MOST have diagnostic capability via this interface.
Software download
The updating takes place via the drive of the radio or the COMAND controller unit using a CD or DVD.
