Cockpit management and data system (COMAND), general
The COMAND controller unit (A40/3) is the central control for the entertainment and communication systems integrated into the vehicle.
The COMAND controller unit acts as a gateway. It routes the signals from the interior CAN (CAN B) to the components of the telematics CAN (CAN A) and the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) and thereby forms the communications interface.
The displays and menu presentations for the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) are generated in the COMAND controller unit.
The following applications can also be displayed in the instrument cluster (A1) at the same time as being displayed in the Audio/ COMAND display:
- Audio
- Cellular telephone
- Navigation
- Video information
