Location
The Audio/COMAND display is fitted centrally on top of the instrument panel.

Task
All navigation, operation and information data are shown in the Audio/COMAND-display.
The Audio/COMAND display also has the following tasks:
^ Reading in of signals
^ Evaluation of input factors

Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Telematics CAN (CAN A)
^ Low voltage differential signal (LVDS) interface

Telematics CAN
The Audio/COMAND display receives control signals from the audio equipment (e.g. brightness) over the telematics CAN.

LVDS interface
The Audio/COMAND display receives all of the information required display the content from the audio equipment via the LVDS interface.

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated internally.

Variants
"Mid" variant (with code (510) Audio 20 with CD changer or code (523) MB Audio 20 APS radio or code (511) Audio 50 APS incl. DVD changer or code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio):
- 5.8 color screen (as of 1.6.2012: fixed)
- 400x240 pixel resolution
"High" variant (with code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer or code (526) COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation) or code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or code (528) COMAND incl. DVD changer):
- 7 color screen (as of 1.7.2011: fixed)
- 800x480 pixel resolution
