A40/9 Audio/COMAND control panel

Location
The Audio/COMAND control panel is located on the center console between the front seats.

Task
The audio system can be operated with the Audio/COMAND control panel.
The audio system is operated by means of the following controls:
- Audio/COMAND controller (A40/9s11) (navigate inside the menu structure of the audio system)
- "Back" button (A40/9s2) (Go back to the next higher level)
- "Delete" button (A40/9s12) (Delete input)
The buttons are designed as push/push buttons.
The Audio/COMAND control panel performs the following individual tasks:
^ Operating unit for entertainment and communication systems
^ Reading in of signals
^ Output of signals

Operating unit for the entertainment and communication systems integrated into the vehicle
The following audio-system components can be operated:
- Radio
- CD (also MP3) and DVD audio
- Music Register (with code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer or code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))
- Bluetooth(R) audio (as of 1.6.2010) and memory card (with code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer, code (526) COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation), code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or code (528) COMAND incl. DVD changer)
- AUX electrical connection (X39/45) (without code (518) Media Interface) or Media interface electrical connection (X18/70) (with code (518) Media Interface)
- USB electrical connection (X115) (as of 1.7.2011 with code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer, code (526) COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation), code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or code (528) COMAND incl. DVD changer; as of 1.6.2012 for all vehicles)
The following additional system components can also be operated:
- Cellular telephone
- Video (with code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer, code (526) COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation), code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or code (528) COMAND incl. DVD changer)
- TV (with code (863) Digital/analog TV tuner or with code (865) TV tuner)
- Internet (as of 1.7.2011 except code (494) USA version, with code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer or code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation); with code (348) Emergency call/Assist system and code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer)
- Navigation (with code (511) Audio 50 APS incl. DVD changer, code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio, code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer, code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or code (509) Navigation box)

Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in over the telematics CAN (CAN A).
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
The Audio/COMAND control panel is supplied with voltage through the following direct connections:
- Circuit 30g
- Circuit 31

Output of signals
The output of the signals is carried out over the telematics CAN.
