Location
The control unit for the fully integrated transmission control is integrated into the control unit for the fully integrated transmission control and located in the automatic transmission.

Task
With its own independent diagnosis system the fully integrated transmission control unit (VGS) determines the current operating condition of the vehicle and controls all the gear change sequences taking into account shift comfort and the driving situation.

The transmission control in the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit is flashable i.e. the complete software in the control unit can be changed (replaced). The software required for control unit programming is stored on the Star Diagnosis Diagnosis Assistance System (DAS) update DVD.

Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN)
The control unit for the fully integrated transmission control is connected via the drive train CAN (CAN C) to the vehicle's CAN network, and exchanges data with other control units.

- Downshift steering wheel gearshift button signal (S110/1)

- Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) (except code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS) or Electronic Stability Program Premium control unit (N30/7) (with code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
- Wheel speeds and direction of rotation, substitute values in the event of failure of the output shaft rpm sensor
