^ Triggering of correspondingly listed vehicle-related services
Triggering the vehicle-related services listed is described in detail in the respective separate documents.

Display of emergency call system status, general
The two red light emitting diodes integrated into the emergency call system button (S93/3) are used to indicate the following actions:
- Emergency call system self-test
- Emergency call system ready state
- Automatic or manual emergency call active
Malfunctions in the emergency call system are also indicated on the instrument cluster (A1), depending on the type of malfunction.
The light emitting diode integrated into the breakdown assistance button (S93/6s2) flashes when breakdown assistance is active.
This is also indicated in the instrument cluster and on the Audio/ COMAND display (A40/8).
The light emitting diode integrated into the MB-Info button (S93/6s1) flashes when an MB-Info call is active. This is also indicated in the instrument cluster and on the Audio/COMAND display. In addition, in the event of breakdown assistance and an MB-Info call the "Remote Destination Feed" or points of interest are shown in the Audio/COMAND display (with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer or with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)).
The execution of the vehicle remote door unlock is displayed by a message in the instrument cluster. In addition, the red light-emitting diodes in the emergency call system button flash.
The display function for the emergency call system status consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence for emergency call system status in non-actuated state
^ Function sequence for emergency call system status for automatic emergency call
^ Function sequence for emergency call system status for manual emergency call
^ Function sequence for emergency call system status for breakdown assistance
^ Function sequence for emergency call system status for MB-Info call
^ Function sequence for emergency call system status for Function sequence for emergency call system status for vehicle remote door unlock

Additional function requirements for emergency call system status in non-actuated state
^ Circuit 15R ON

Function sequence for emergency call system status in non- actuated state
As soon as circuit 15R is activated, both red LEDs integrated into the emergency call system button light up during the self-test of the emergency call system control unit for approx. t = 4 s.
Actuation is accomplished by the emergency call system control unit via a discrete line.
During the self-test, the following states of the emergency call system are checked:
- Emergency call system control unit power supply
- Functions within the emergency call system control unit (e.g. integrated communication module or memory)
- Communication with the supplemental restraint system control unit (N2/10) and the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) (without code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS) or the Premium Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/7) (with code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
- Emergency call system button function, breakdown assistance button and MB-Info button (e.g. jammed or open button)
- Emergency call system antenna function (A2/52)
- Global positioning system antenna splitter (A2/5) function (with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer or with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))
- Multifunction antenna (A28/11) function
The status of circuit 15R is received by the emergency call system control unit from the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) in the following way:
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
- Diagnostic CAN (CAN D)
The emergency call system control unit communicates with the supplemental restraint system control unit ("LIFE signal" every t = 500 ms) and the Electronic Stability Program control unit as follows:
- Chassis CAN (CAN E)
- Front SAM control unit
- Diagnostic CAN
The following components are checked each over a discrete line:
- Supplemental restraint system control unit
- Emergency call system button, breakdown assistance button and MB-Info button- Emergency call system antenna
- Global Positioning System antenna splitter (with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer or with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))
- Multifunction antenna
If no fault is present, the two red light emitting diodes integrated into the emergency call system button go out after approx. t = 4 s thereby indicating operational readiness of the emergency call system.
If a fault is present, the two red light emitting diodes integrated into the emergency call system button are permanently actuated by the emergency call system control unit via a direct line. Depending on the fault type, a message is displayed in the instrument cluster and filed in the memory of the emergency call system control unit.
The message is displayed in the instrument cluster by the emergency call system control unit in the following way:
- Diagnostic CAN
- Front SAM control unit
- Interior CAN

Additional function requirements for emergency call system status for automatic emergency call
^ Circuit 15R ON

Function sequence for emergency call system status for automatic emergency call
After triggering an automatic emergency call (crash recognition incl. crash level), the emergency call system control unit intermittently actuates one of the two red light emitting diodes integrated into the emergency call system button via a direct line.
This is also indicated in the instrument cluster and on the Audio/ COMAND display.
This is displayed on the instrument cluster over the following path:
- Diagnostic CAN
- Front SAM control unit
- Interior CAN
This is displayed on the Audio/COMAND display through the following path:
- Diagnostic CAN
- Front SAM control unit
- Interior CAN
- COMAND controller unit (A40/3)
- Low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line

Additional function requirements for emergency call system status for manual emergency call
^ Circuit 30g ON

Function sequence for emergency call system status for manual emergency call
After triggering a manual emergency call using the emergency call system button, the emergency call system control unit intermittently actuates one of the two red light emitting diodes integrated into the emergency call system button via a direct line. This is also indicated in the instrument cluster and on the Audio/COMAND display. This is displayed on the instrument cluster over the following path:
- Diagnostic CAN
- Front SAM control unit
- Interior CAN
This is displayed on the Audio/COMAND display through the following path:
- Diagnostic CAN
- Front SAM control unit
- Interior CAN
- COMAND control unit
- LVDS line

Additional function requirements for emergency call system status for breakdown assistance
^ Circuit 30g ON

Function sequence for emergency call system status for breakdown assistance
After triggering breakdown assistance using the breakdown assistance button, the emergency call system control unit intermittently actuates the light emitting diode integrated into the breakdown assistance button via a direct line. This is also indicated in the instrument cluster and on the Audio/COMAND display.
This is displayed on the instrument cluster over the following path:
- Diagnostic CAN
- Front SAM control unit
- Interior CAN
This is displayed on the Audio/COMAND display through the following path:
