GF82.95-P-2021CAU Vehicle Tracking, Function
GF82.95-P-2021CAU Vehicle Tracking, Function
MODEL 207.3 /4
- with CODE (359) TELE AID emergency call system
Function requirements for vehicle tracking, general
^ Circuit 30g ON
^ Emergency call system is authorized
^ The vehicle-related vehicle tracking service is authorized separately
^ The driver is registered and authorized at the Service Center
^ One mobile phone network is available in sufficient strength and quality
Vehicle tracking, general
The following points are vehicle tracking objectives:
- Retrieval of stolen or misappropriated vehicles
- Fast assistance in event of a "car jacking"
The vehicle tracking function consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence for anti-theft alarm system (with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))
^ Function sequence for vehicle theft telephone message from driver to police and then to service center
^ Function sequence for position sensing
Additional function requirement for "antitheft alarm system" (with code (551) Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))
^ Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) active for t > 30 s
Function sequence for "antitheft alarm system" (with code (551) Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))
If the antitheft alarm system is initiated, the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) receives an "ATA alarm" message over the following path:
- Rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
- Diagnostic CAN (CAN D)
The "ATA [EDW] alarm" message is transmitted by the communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit to the Service Center over the following path:
- Direct line
- Multifunction antenna (A28/11)
The service center receives the "ATA alarm" message and advises the driver by telephone that the ATA alarm has been triggered. "Vehicle tracking" not yet triggered by the Service Center.
Additional function requirements for vehicle theft telephone message from driver to police and then to service center
^ The driver was informed by the service center that the ATA alarm has been triggered, (with code (551) Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))
^ Driver notices that vehicle has been stolen
Function sequence for vehicle theft telephone message from driver to police and then to service center
If the driver has been informed by the service center that his/her vehicle has been stolen or if the driver himself/herself notices that the vehicle has been stolen, it is first necessary for the driver to report the theft to the police. The driver receives a special number from the police, which confirms that the vehicle theft has been reported.
With this number, the driver can report to the service center, by telephone, and give this number to the employee there. The service center checks the query and the driver's legitimization.
Additional function requirements for position sensing
^ Vehicle reported as stolen by driver, by telephone, to police and then to service center as well as legitimization by service center
^ An emergency call system control unit communication module authorized for the corresponding vehicle-related service is configured ex-factory with the telephone number of the corresponding service provider
^ A higher-priority vehicle-related service is not active
^ Signals from at least three Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites
Function sequence for position sensing
After notification of the theft and legitimization at the service center an initiation command is sent to the vehicle.
The initiation command is received by the communication module integrated into the emergency call system control module over the following path:
- Multifunction antenna
- Direct line
The emergency call system control unit then activates the GPS position finding and also the voice connection to the vehicle.
The emergency call system control unit receives the GPS signals via the following route:
- Multifunction antenna
- Direct line
- Global positioning system antenna splitter (A2/5) (with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer or with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))
- Direct line
Then the communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit sends the position data to the service provider in the same manner as the "ATA alarm" message.
The position data is transmitted cyclically and for the following events:
- When a specific distance is exceeded
- Recognition of damage or manipulation to vehicle
- Circuit 15 ON or circuit 15 OFF (switching the ignition on or off)
The Service Center forwards the location of the vehicle to the responsible command staff (e.g. police). The command staff can then decide whether or not to speak to the driver.
Vehicle tracking can only be deactivated by the service center.
In the event of a multifunction antenna malfunction (e.g. defective because of rollover) the emergency call system control unit automatically uses the emergency call system antenna (A2/52) to transmit mobile phone signals.
