Update Soft Top Control Module Software
This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes- Benz vehicles, has determined that the soft top control module software does not correspond to current production configuration. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the soft top control module software at the next workshop visit.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.
Approximately 11,096 vehicles are affected.
Procedure
Note:
^ Use Xentry *03*/13 with all associated patches or higher.
^ Follow the steps exactly as described in Xentry.
^ Connect battery charger when updating software version (battery voltage > 12.5V).
^ Ensure all electrical consumers are switched-off.
^ In the event of software/SCN update issues, contact Star Diagnosis User Help Desk.
^ Refer to Star Diagnosis System (SDS) Best Practices Guide
A. Check for Latest Control Module Software
1. Connect Star Diagnosis to vehicle.
2. Check for latest soft top control module software: Control unit view / Body / VDS vario roof control / Rear control unit (SG-FOND) / Adaptations / Control unit programming.
^ If no newer software is found: Procedure is complete.
^ If software update is required proceed to Subject B.
B. Update with Latest Soft Top Control Module Software
1. Update soft top control module software.
Note:
If vehicle is equipped with air cap (special equipment code: 288) the soft top control module must be coded for this equipment after being updated. Follow the on screen instructions in order to perform this coding.
2. Follow on-screen instructions to complete software update.
Note:
^ After software update the new control module software version might be: 2079023200_001 2079033100_001.
* ^ Please verify operation of seat belt extender button N7211 s43 after campaign has been performed.
^ If the seat belt extender button N7211 s43 no longer functions normally please create a PTSS case for this issue. Do not replace any components.*
Note:
^ Please be aware that only the part number(s) referenced in the Campaign Bulletin is/are approved for use to repair the vehicle. Repairs performed using any other part(s) will not have been performed in accordance with the campaign. Accordingly, warranty claims submitted with reference to an improper part number(s) will be denied.
^ The following allowable labor operation should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair:
