GF54.35-P-0001CA Fanfare Horn System, Function
General function requirements
^ Circuit 15 ON
The circuit status is sent by the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) over the chassis CAN (CAN E) to the steering column tube module control unit (N80).
Fanfare horns, general
The left fanfare horn (H2) and the right fanfare horn (H2/1) represent the audible warning system of the motor vehicle. The fanfare horns are used in dangerous situations to warn other road users with a uniform and constant signal tone.
Fanfare horns function sequence
The fanfare horns are requested by pressing the left fanfare horn button (S110s5) or the right fanfare horn button (S111s5).
The respective fanfare horn button status is read in via the steering LIN (LIN E1) by the steering column tube module control unit. The steering column tube module control unit sends the request via the chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). The front SAM control unit actuates the fanfare horns relay (N10/1kO).
Thereupon the fanfare horns relay switches the power supply (terminal 30) to the horns.
The signal tone sounds for as long as one of the fanfare horn buttons is actuated.
The fanfare horns are actuated when start-off assist ("HOLD" function) is active and the driver door is opened at the same time. The driver is warned that the start-off assist function does not replace the electric parking brake and also should not be used to park.
Detailed information about the start off assist function can be found in the separate function description "Adaptive Brake (ABR)".
