GF82.10-P-3070CA Front Fog Light Actuation, Function

GF82.10-P-3070CA Front Fog Light Actuation, Function

Function requirements, front fog light actuation, general
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage
(operating voltage range U ≥7 ≤17.5 V)
^ Standing lights On (exterior lights switch (S1) in "Standing lights" or "Manual driving lights" position) in vehicles with code (494) USA version only in "Manual driving lights" position
^ Circuit 15 ON (when coded)
^ Exterior lights switch in "AUTO" position (model 207.3 as of 1.6.10, model 207.4)

The electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) transmits circuit 15 status to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) via the interior CAN (CAN B).

Front fog light actuation in general
Front fog light actuation provides better illumination of the road while driving as well as illuminating the rear of the vehicle under bad weather conditions.

The standing lights actuation, described in a separate document, is active during the front fog light actuation.

Front fog light actuation consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence for front fog lamp actuation
(with code (498) Japan version or without code (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integral curve illumination and without code (616) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integral asymmetrical curve illumination and without code (621) Intelligent Light System (left-hand traffic) and without code (622) Intelligent Light System (right-hand traffic))

^ Rear fog light actuation function sequence

Front fog lamp actuation function sequence
Model 207.3 up to 31.5.10:
Pulling out the exterior lights switch up to the first notch requests actuation of the front fog lamps. The front SAM control unit reads in the status of the exterior lights switch via the instrument panel LIN (LIN 1).

Model 207.3 as of 1.6.10, model 207.4:
After pressing the front fog lamp switch (S1s11) on the exterior lights switch, the front fog lamp actuation is requested. The front SAM control unit directly reads in the status of the front fog lamp button.

The front SAM control unit then actuates the left front fog lamp (E5/1) and the right front fog lamp (E5/2).

The active front fog light actuation is indicated visually to the driver. To do so, the front SAM control unit sends the "Front fog lamp indicator lamp On" request via interior CAN to the instrument cluster (A1), which then actuates the front fog lamp indicator lamp (A1e57).

With code (460) Canada version or code (494) USA version, the front fog lamps and the high beams function must not be actuated at the same time.
The current incoming request has priority.

Additional function requirements for rear fog light actuation
^ Low beams On (with code (494) USA version)

Rear fog light actuation function sequence
Model 207.3 up to 31.5.10:
Rear fog light actuation is requested by pulling out the exterior light switch until the first detent (vehicles without front fog lamps) or the second detent (vehicles with front fog lamps). The front SAM control unit reads in the status of the exterior lights switch via instrument panel LIN.

Model 207.3 as of 1.6.10, model 207.4:
The rear fog light actuation is requested by pressing the rear fog light button (S1s10) on the exterior lights switch. The front SAM control unit directly reads in the status of the rear fog light button.

The front SAM control unit then sends the "Switch on rear fog light" request via interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and, on vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch, to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1). The rear SAM control unit actuates the left rear fog light (E3/1e5) or right rear fog light (E4/1e5) according to the national coding. The trailer recognition control unit actuates the relevant rear fog light on the trailer via the trailer socket (X58).

The rear fog light on the vehicle is not actuated during trailer operation.

For this purpose, the trailer recognition control unit sends a corresponding signal with the information "Operational rear fog lamp exists on trailer" via interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit.

The active rear fog light actuation is indicated visually to the driver. To do so, the front SAM control unit sends the "Rear fog light indicator lamp On" request via interior CAN to the instrument cluster, which then actuates the rear fog light indicator lamp (A1e18).

If, with active rear fog light actuation, the transmitter key is removed from the electronic ignition lock control unit in model 207.3 up to 31.5.10 and the driver door is then opened, the instrument cluster actuates the warning buzzer and shows a corresponding message via the multifunction display.

The request to deactivate rear fog light actuation via the exterior lights switch prevents the automatic actuation of the rear fog light the next time the vehicle is driven with the low beams switched on.
