Auto Pilot System (APS), switch-on/off characteristics, general
The APS can be switched on and off as follows:
^ Automatically by switching c. 15R on and off
^ Manually by actuating "ON" button the radio with auto-pilot system (A2/56)
^ Automatic switch-off in the event of undervoltage
^ Switch off behavior (run-on mode) when the destination has not been reached

Automatically by switching c. 15R on and off
When c. 15R is activated, (transmitter key (A8/1) turned to position 1 in electronic ignition lock control unit (N73)), the radio with auto- pilot system is switched on, unless it was switched on before the transmitter key was removed.
The last active audio application is started and the relevant basic menu shown on the audio/COMAND display (A40/8). If the radio with auto pilot system was switched off, a warning notice is always shown with general information on using the audio system.

Manually by actuating "ON" button the radio with auto-pilot system
By actuating the "ON" button, the radio with auto-pilot system can also be switched on and off when the transmitter key is removed.
If it is switched on, all audio system functions are available for t = 30 min.
Then the radio with auto-pilot system is switched off automatically.

Automatic switch-off in the event of undervoltage
If the voltage of the on-board electrical system battery (G1) is too low, a corresponding warning message appears on the audio-/ COMAND display. This represents an engine starts request. If the engine is not started, an additional warning message appears after t = 3 min. If the engine is not started within the next t = 10 s, the radio with auto-pilot system switches off the audio system.
If the on-board electrical system voltage increases, the radio with auto-pilot system does not switch back on automatically. The radio with auto-pilot system can then be switched on manually.
The warning procedure then runs again, until the cause for the undervoltage is rectified.
If the status of the on-board electrical system is critical, the radio with auto pilot system may also be switched off without warning.

Switch off behavior (run-on mode) when the destination has not been reached
If route guidance is activated and the destination is not reached (e.g. fueling stop), the navigation function remains activated for a max. of t = 120 min. After t > 120 min, a manual confirmation in the Navigation menu is required to continue the route.
