Make sure that the wiring harness is not damaged through chafing, as otherwise the wiring harness will have to be replaced.
1 Clip reversing camera (B84/3) into the cutout provided in the trunk lid and detach protective foil (5).
Route the electrical line into the interior of the trunk lid.
2 Release grommet of cable duct (4.1) from trunk lid (arrows) and remove from trunk lid.
3 Release cable duct (4.1) from holder (9) and remove upwards out of holder (9).
4 Release catch hook (4.3) on grommet (4.2) of cable duct (4.1) and remove wiring harness for trunk lid (4).
The wiring harness for the trunk lid (4) is replaced by the wiring harness for the trunk lid (4) contained in the package contents.
5 Clip cable duct (4.1) for new trunk lid wiring harness (4).
Check grommets of trunk lid wiring harness (4), as otherwise water penetration may occur.
6 Route trunk lid wiring harness (4) along existing lines to the reversing camera electrical connector (B84/3x1) in the trunk lid and fasten in place using cable ties.
7 Make electrical connector for reversing camera (B84/3x1).
To do so, connect the black 4-pin coupling of the trunk lid wiring harness (4) and the black 4-pin reversing camera connector.
8 Pull foam material (16) over the reversing camera electrical connector (B84/3x1).
9 Route trunk lid wiring harness (4) along existing lines to the reversing camera electrical connector (X169) and fasten in place using cable ties.
10 Route reversing camera wiring harness (2) along existing lines to reversing camera power supply module (N66/10) and fasten in place using cable ties.
11 Make electrical connector for reversing camera (X169).
To do so, connect the black 4-pin coupling of the trunk lid wiring harness (4) and the black 4-pin reversing camera wiring harness connector (2).
12 Pull foam material over the reversing camera electrical connector (X169).
13 Connect black 4-pin coupling (2.1) for reversing camera wiring harness on the power supply module wiring harness (N66/10).
14 Fit retaining clamp (7) for trunk lid wiring harness (4) to body flange.
15 Apply preservation agent to body flange in area of retaining clamp (7).
16 Connect white, 6-pin coupling (1.1) for COMAND controller unit electrical line to the reversing camera power supply module (N66/10).
17 Route gray/yellow line (gr/ge) along existing lines to lower grommet of cable duct (8).
18 Release grommet of cable duct (8) from trunk lid (arrows) and remove from trunk lid.
19 Route gray/yellow line (gr/ge) using a pull-through device through the cable duct (8) into the trunk lid.
If necessary, spray lubricant into the cable duct (8).
20 Clip grommet for cable duct (8) into trunk lid.
21 Connect gray/yellow line (gr/ge) of reversing camera wiring harness to the gray/yellow line (gr/yellow) of the right backup lamp (E4/1e3) by means of potential distributor (3).
The potential distributor (3) can be obtained from the wiring harness repair kit.
22 Wrap felt tape round potential distributor (3).
23 Fasten gray/yellow line (gr/ge) of right backup lamp (E4/1e3) and gray/yellow line (gr/ge) for reversing camera in place using cable ties.
24 Route brown line (br) from reversing camera power supply module (N66/10) along given lines up to the right ground point in the trunk wheel arch (W7) and fasten in place using cable ties.
25 Connect brown line (br) to the ground point of the right wheel arch (trunk) (W7).
Strap down excess length of brown line (br).
26 Route red/blue line (rt/bl) from reversing camera power supply module (N66/10) along given lines up to rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and fasten in place using cable ties.
Strap down excess length of red/blue line (rt/bl).
Only perform operation steps 27 to 31 if the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) is populated with a green fuse carrier (11).
27 Remove green fuse carrier (11) from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
28 Connect red/blue line (rt/bl) with the line (14) in contact cavity 4 of the green fuse carrier for the vehicle wiring harness using a potential distributor (13).
Perform operation step only when contact cavity 4 of the fuse carrier is used. The potential distributor (13) can be obtained from the wiring harness repair kit.
29 Open lock on green fuse carrier (11).
Perform operation step only when contact cavity 4 of the green fuse carrier (11 ) is not used.
30 Fit a suitable "STP" contact to the red/blue line (rt/bl).
Perform operation step only when contact cavity 4 of the green fuse carrier (11 ) is not used. The "STP" contact is available in the wiring harness repair kit.
31 Install red/blue line (red/blue) into contact cavity 4 of green fuse carrier (11).
Perform operation step only when contact cavity 4 of the fuse carrier (11) is not ) used.
32 Install red/blue line (red/blue) into contact cavity 4 of green fuse carrier (11) included in package contents.
Perform operation step only when the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module is (N10/2) not populated with a green fuse carrier (11).
33 Insert a 7.5 A fuse into contact cavity 4 of green fuse carrier (11).
