If a roof sign lamp is not to be installed, the roof sign lamp branch-off line is only to be placed into the front SAM with fuse and relay module.
In this case, a grommet is not installed into the cover on the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module.






Only conduct operation steps 1 to 10 when retrofitting the roof sign lamp.

1 Remove cover from front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
2 Detach brackets (arrows A) from covering (3) and remove covering (3) from fuse box (2).






3 Drill hole with a diameter of 18 mm (a), as shown, in the center between the bars on the covering (3).
4 Insert grommet (4), as shown, into the covering (3).
5 Slide roof sign lamp branch-off line (1.5) from outside and through the grommet (4).
The roof sign lamp branch-off line (1.5) was separated in a previous operation step in the left front footwell from the taxi/ rental vehicle wiring harness.
In the area of the passage through the grommet (4) the roof sign lamp branch-off line (1.5) must not be wrapped with insulation tape.

6 Seal grommet (4) from inside using sealant.






7 Insert and clip covering (3) into the fuse box.
8 Route black, 2-pin coupling (7), as shown, to the previously installed roof sign lamp adapter wiring harness (6).
9 Connect black, 2-pin coupling (7) to black, 2-pin connector (5) to form the roof sign lamp electrical connector (X40).
10 Fasten roof sign lamp adapter wiring harness (6) and roof sign lamp branch off line (1.5) using cable tie and felt tape.






Always perform operation steps 11 to 15.

11 Route roof sign lamp branch-off line (1.5) through the opening (arrow B) in the fuse box in the vehicle interior.
12 Install cover of front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
13 Clip roof sign lamp branch-off line (1.5) using potential distributor (74) to the separated red and black line of the taxi/ rental vehicle wiring harness.
The roof sign lamp branch-off line (1.5) of the taxi/rental vehicle wiring harness was cut in a previous operation in the driver footwell and now has to be joined again.
The potential distributors (74) are available in the wiring harness repair set.

14 Wrap insulation tape around the roof sign lamp branch-off line (1.5) in the area of the clamping joints (74).
15 Fasten the roof sign lamp branch-off line (1.5) using a cable tie to the vehicle wiring harness.
