Component Identification:






Location
The right door control unit is located on the rear door module behind the door paneling of the right door.

Task
The right door control unit has the following tasks:
^ Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Controlling function sequences
^ Actuation of components

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Front door
^ LIN Interior CAN

Direct line
The following sensors are read in via a direct line:
- Hall signals for right front power window motor (M10/4)
- Mirror up/down adjustment potentiometer (M21/2r2)
- Mirror in/out adjustment potentiometer (M21/2r3)

The following switches are read in via a direct line:
- Right rotary tumbler switch (A85/1s1)
- Right drive lock pawl switch (A85/1s2)
- Right safety limit switch (A85/1s3)
- Front passenger power window switch (S21/2)

The following signals are read in via a direct line:
- Circuit 30
- Tml. 31

Front door LIN
The following switches are read in via front door LIN:
- Right front seat operation switch group (S23)
- Head restraint adjustment switch (S23s1)
- Seat cushion fore/aft switch (S23s2)
- Fore/aft, height and inclination adjustment switch (S23s3)
- Backrest switch (S23s5)
- Memory switch (S23s6)
- Memory 1 switch (S23s7)
- Memory 2 switch (S23s8)
- Memory 3 switch (S23s9)
- Left or right seat adjustment selection switch (S23s10)
- Seat ventilation switch (S23s11) (with code (401) Front comfort seats incl. seat heater and seat ventilation)
- Seat heater switch (S23s12) (with code (401) Front comfort seats incl. seat heating and seat ventilation)
- Right interior CL switch (S85/6)

Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the right door control unit via the interior CAN.
The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluating input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Controlling function sequences
The right front door control unit controls the following function sequences:
- Outside mirror adjustment
- Blind spot assist indicator (with code (234) Blind spot assist)
- Power window actuation
- Front passenger door interior illumination
- Central locking (CL [ZV])
- Left additional door lock (with code (833) Great Britain version)

Actuation of components
- Right door lock unit (A85/1)
- Right CL motor (A85/1m1)
- Right power closing motor (A85/1m3)
- Right additional door lock motor (A85/1m4) (with code (833) Great Britain version)
- Right outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/6)
- Right door entrance/exit lamp (E17/4)
- Right door inside handle illumination (E17/12)
- Right door trim strip illumination (E17/44) (with code (876) Interior lights package)
- Right front power window motor (M10/4)

Thermal protection for right front power window motor: The right front door control unit calculates the actuation duration, operating voltage, rpm of the right front power window motor as well as the outside and inside temperature at the bearing points on the right front power window motor to protect the right front power window motor.

After reaching a certain threshold temperature, the right rear power window motor can only be actuated until the request is no longer present or the end position is reached.
During automatic raising the direction is reversed when the overload protection force limitation is actuated.

It is possible to reactuate the right front power window motor after a cooling phase calculated by the right front door control unit.
