Procedures



AZ88.00-P-0001-03CW Converting Rear Bumper

Check components removed from standard bumper before assembly and replace if damaged.

Pay attention to paint damage.







1. Insert bottom section paneling (2) into rear bumper paneling (1) and arrest.







2. Check whether bottom section paneling (2) is arrested correctly on inside of rear bumper paneling (1), if necessary press in again (see arrows).







3. Fasten paneling bottom section (2) to rear bumper paneling (1) on right and left with sheet metal nuts (3) and 4.2x13 round head hex bolts (4).







4. Insert hole reinforcement (12) into paneling bottom section (2) on right and left.







5. Insert wheelhouse cover (5) on right and left into rear bumper paneling (1) and fasten with one blind rivet (6) each.

The wheelhouse cover (5) should arrest properly in the rear bumper paneling (1) (see arrow).







Vehicles with end pipe

6.1. Fasten right wheelhouse liner bracket (7) to wheelhouse cover (5) and rear bumper paneling (1) with two expansion rivets (8).

On vehicles with one end pipe, two hose clamps are installed for the tank recess drain (one at the side flange and one at the right wheelhouse liner bracket (7)). On vehicles with two end pipes, only one hose clamp is installed on the side flange.







7. Insert center basic carrier (9) into rear bumper paneling (1) and arrest.

The center basic carrier (9) should arrest properly in the rear bumper paneling (1), if necessary use suitable tool.







8. Install seal washers (10) on threaded studs (11) on right and left.







Vehicles with Parktronic system (PTS) code 220

9.1. Insert outer right rear, inner right, left inner and outer left PARKTRONIC distance sensors (B8/9) into brackets on rear bumper paneling (1).

Previously check whether a decoupling ring (transparent silicon ring) is installed on all PTS ultrasonic sensors.







Vehicles with Parktronic system (PTS) code 220

10.1. Insert PTS wiring harness into rear bumper paneling (1) and fasten to center basic carrier (9) at specified attachment points (circles).


Component Identification:






11. Glue damping mat (15) into rear bumper paneling (1).

The damping mats (15) are different for the right and left side. Pay attention to precise position (broken line) when fitting.







12. Hook check strap (17) on towing eye cover (18) into front bumper paneling (1).
13. Insert tow eye cover (18) into rear bumper paneling (1).

Arrest towing eye cover (18) correctly.
