Location
Y58/1 Purge control valve

The switchover valve is located in the front left of the engine compartment.

Task
When regeneration is enabled, the switchover valve opens the purge line between the activated charcoal filter and the intake manifold. In this way, it is possible to suction off the fuel vapors from the activated charcoal filter.

For USA version
The switchover valve is opened and closed for leak testing of the regeneration system.

Function
Y58/1 Purge control valve
a Connection of purge line from the activated charcoal filter
b Connection of the purge line to the variable intake manifold

The switchover valve is actuated by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) by means of a PWM signal (pulse width modulated signal) according to the operating conditions of the engine.
At the same time, the passage of the purge line from the activated charcoal filter to the variable intake manifold (a --> b) is opened.

The switchover valve is always closed in the idle state (deenergized).

The voltage is supplied through "terminal 87 M2". The frequency of the PWM signal is 10 Hz.

In order to suppress pulsation noises a fluid reservoir is located the purge line upstream of the switchover valve.
