Vehicles without interior fuse box (F34)
2 Disconnect fuse holder (30) from supply wiring harness (5) and crimp pin (SLK 2.8X0.8) from parts kit to supply line tie-out (26).
Fuse holder (30) is no longer required.
All vehicles
3 Connect white, 6-pin connector (22) on illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (6) to white, 6-pin coupling (23) on supply wiring harness (5).
4 Connect black, 33-pin coupling (24) on supply wiring harness (5) to illuminated door sill molding control unit (1).
5 Connect ground line tie-out (4) on supply wiring harness (5) to right front ground point footwell (W15/7).
6 Route CAN coupling (8) on supply wiring harness (5) to interior CAN potential distributor electrical connector, right vehicle floor (X30/33) and connect to free slot.
7 Stick double-sided adhesive tape, width 25 mm, to entire reverse side of right converter (13) and glue on to body as per picture.
Bonding surfaces must be pre-treated in accordance with adhesive tape manufacturer's instructions.
8 Route black, 8-pin coupling (12) in right footwell cable duct to right converter (13) and connect.
Connect black, 2-pin coupling (10) on illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (6) to illuminated right door sill molding later.
9 Route supply line tie-out (26) and illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (6) from right footwell over center tunnel in left footwell and parking brake cable as shown in figure and fix in place.
When routing supply line tie-out (26) and illuminate door sill molding wiring harness (6), ensure that other components are not damaged or obstructed in their function.
10 Route illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (6) along present wiring harness in cable duct and fix in place.
11 Securely fix in place lever converter (14) with double-sided adhesive tape to inner sill and connect to black, 8-pin coupling (connection to illuminated left door sill molding) (11).
Do not damage illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (6) by squeezing or pinching it.
Strap down excess lengths of the illuminated door sill moldings wiring harness (6) and fix in place to on-board wiring harnesses using cable ties.
12 Route supply line tie-out (26) with fuse holder (30) along A-pillar to interior fuse box (F34) in interior compartment.
Do not damage supply line tie-out (26) by squeezing or pinching it.
Strap down excess lengths of the supply line tie-out (26) and fix in place to on-board wiring harnesses using cable ties
13.1 Vehicles with interior fuse box (F34)
- Pry out interior fuse box (F34) and connect fuse holder (30) to slot 129.
13.2 Vehicles without interior fuse box (F34)
- Guide supply wiring harness (5) along A-pillar through passage for front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
Do not damage supply wiring harness (5) by squeezing or pinching it.
Strap down excess lengths of supply wiring harness (5) and fix in place to on-board wiring harnesses using cable ties
- Remove orange-colored coupling C11 (see arrow) from front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). Disconnect supply line tie-out (26) with pin SLK 2.8X0.8 from parts kit in chamber 6 of orange-colored coupling C11.
