Any improper triggering of a manual or automatic TELE AID emergency call is punishable by law.

General
In the event that a driver has an emergency situation in a remote location, a CAC employee can get an overview of the situation inside the vehicle using the information received (via SMS and voice connection) from the emergency call system control unit and initiate corresponding remedial measures.
A TELE AID emergency call can be triggered manually or automatically. The aim of TELE AID emergency calls is as follows:
^ Automatic alerting of the rescue services after an accident
^ Alerting of rescue workers at the press of a button (own emergency situation, observed accident)
^ Reduction in rescue times through fast emergency notification with details on exact location involved

The emergency call function consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Manual triggering of TELE AID emergency call function sequence
^ Automatic triggering of TELE AID emergency call function sequence
^ Function sequence for transmission of emergency call data and communication with the CAC

The "Data from SRS control unit" subfunction is described in a separate document.

Manual triggering of TELE AID emergency call function sequence
The emergency call system control unit directly reads in the emergency call system button via a discrete line.

Automatic triggering of TELE AID emergency call function sequence
The emergency call system control unit receives the crash signal from the SRS control unit directly via a discrete line. At the same time the emergency call system control unit receives the crash signal (redundant) and the crash level in the following way from the SRS control unit:
^ Chassis CAN
^ Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
^ Diagnostic CAN

Function sequence for transmission of emergency call data and CAC communication
After triggering a manual or automatic TELE AID emergency call, the emergency call system control unit automatically sends an SMS with the following data to the CAC via the communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit:
^ Vehicle position, direction of travel and history
^ Vehicle data and crash analysis (accident severity)
^ Customer data of the emergency service provider

A voice connection to the CAC is also set up via the communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit. The communication module transmits and receives the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:
^ Discrete line
^ Frequency switchover control unit (N96), with code (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface, USA/ Canada
^ Discrete line
^ Multifunction antenna (A28/11)

If connection to the CAC cannot be established when an automatic TELE AID emergency call is triggered, then a voice connection is automatically set up using the emergency number "911" and the listed data has to be communicated verbally.

If a manual or automatic TELE AID emergency call is active, it is indicated by one of the two red light emitting diodes (LED) integrated into the emergency call system button flashing.

In the event of a manual or automatic TELE AID emergency call, other vehicle-related services (e.g. MB-Info call) and, for vehicles with code (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface, USA/Canada, active mobile phone connections are interrupted.

In the event of a multifunction antenna malfunction (e.g. defective because of rollover) the emergency call system control unit automatically uses the emergency call system antenna (A2/52) to transmit mobile phone signals or data.
