GF82.61-P-4112CE Radio With Auto Pilot System, Component Description
- with CODE (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

Component Identification:

Location
The radio with auto pilot system is located in the center console.

Task
The radio with auto pilot system has the following tasks:
^ Operating unit for entertainment and communication systems
^ Reading in of signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuating of system components

Operating unit for entertainment and communication systems
The radio with auto pilot system provides the user with a structured and uniform interface for the following system components:
- Audio (radio/CD/DVD (also MP3)/AUX)
- Communication (telephone (with address book function), reading short message service (SMS)) (with code (386) Comfort telephony)
- Navigation (arrow navigation in instrument cluster (A1) and 2D map display in audio-/COMAND display)
- Voice control system (VCS [SBS]), (only with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer)

Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct lines
^ Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN)
^ media-oriented system transport (MOST)

Direct lines
The radio with auto pilot system is equipped with the following direct connections:
- Wake-up for MOST (bi-directional)
- - AUX input 1 (access in glove compartment), without code ( 518) Media interface
- Telephone MUTE
- FM, AM and CL antenna amplifier (A2/18) (model 204.0)
- Rear window antenna amplifier 1 (A2/71) (model 204.2/9)
- Antenna amplifier for rear window FM antenna(A2/19)
- Bluetooth antenna (A2/91)
- Multifunction antenna (A28/11)
- Voice control system microphone (B25/7) (2 microphones)

CAN
The radio with auto-pilot system is a subscriber on the interior CAN (CAN B) and telematics CAN (CAN A).
The signals are read in by the radio with auto-pilot system. The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

MOST
The radio with auto-pilot system receives the control and audio signals from the following control unit via MOST:
- Sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3)
(with code (810) Sound system)
- Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3)
(with code (537) Digital radio)
- Media interface control unit (N125/1)
(with code (518) Media interface)

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Actuation of system components
The following output signals are output by the radio with auto-pilot system to actuate the system components:
- Audio output (speaker)
(without code (810) Sound system)
- Switch voltage for mobile phone cradle (A34/15) via Bluetooth module (A34/7)
(with code (386) Mobile phone)
- Video output: Low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line (transmits picture signal from radio with auto-pilot system to audio-/COMAND display)

Design
The following components are integrated into the radio with auto pilot system:
- Operating panel for controlling the audio, navigation and telematics functions
- Radio tuner
- DVD single drive (with code (525) Radio MB Audio 50 APS)
- DVD changer (with code (511) Audio 50 APS incl. DVD changer)
- Card scanner for Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) cards
- Bluetooth receiver for comfort telephony (without code (386) Comfort telephony)
- Central computer
- Navigation processor
- Audio amplifier (without code (810) Sound system)

Function
The control signals from the button on the operating panel on the radio with auto pilot system are read in and relayed to the central computer. The control signals are processed further in the central computer and forwarded via MOST, the telematics CAN and the interior CAN to the other system components in the form of messages. If the ON button on the radio with auto pilot system is pressed, the radio with auto pilot system switches on. The volume is regulated for each audio source set by turning the ON button. The function keys switch over to the audio source desired by the user.

Variants
The radio with auto pilot system is available in the following variants:
- Audio 50 APS with single DVD drive
(with code (525) Radio MB Audio 50 APS)
- Audio 55 with DVD changer
(with code (511) Audio 50 APS incl. DVD changer)

Diagnosis
The radio with auto pilot system is the diagnosis gateway for all MOST subscribers. The diagnostic communication takes place between the radio with the auto pilot system and the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) via the interior CAN. The diagnostic communication between the front SAM control unit and the diagnostic connector (X11/4) connected to Star Diagnosis is performed via the diagnostic CAN (CAN D).
