- with CODE (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer
- with CODE (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)
- with CODE (528) COMAND with DVD changer
- except CODE (498) Japan version

Function requirements, general
^ Circuit 30g On or Circuit 15R On
^ Cockpit Management and Data System (COMAND) authorized and working correctly
^ There is a video DVD/CD in the DVD/CD magazine of the COMAND control unit (A40/3)

Video mode, general
The DVD drive of the COMAND control unit supports playback of video DVDs. A DVD changer is integrated in vehicles with code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer or code (528) COMAND incl. DVD changer. A single DVD drive is installed on vehicles with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation).

The video image is shown on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) once the "Video" menu and then the "DVD video" submenu have been activated.

Operating instructions, general
The system can be operated using the:
- Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9)
- Control fields on the COMAND control unit
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)

Function sequence, video mode
The video signals are transmitted via a separate video line to the COMAND control unit. The COMAND control unit transmits the picture data to the Audio/COMAND display via a low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line.
On vehicles without code (810) Sound system, audio output is accomplished directly by the COMAND control unit via the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker (H4/1)
- Right front door speaker (H4/2)
- Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
- Right rear door speaker (H4/4)

On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the COMAND control unit sends the audio signal over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3).

The sound system amplifier control unit processes these signals and routes them, via direct lines, to the following speakers for output:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Center dashboard speaker (H4/27)
- Bass speaker (H4/29) (model 204.0/2)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)

On model 204.0 the right rear surround speaker is integrated into the bass speaker. On model 204.9 the audio signals for the rear bass speaker (H4/38) are routed from the sound system amplifier control unit to the rear bass speaker amplifier (N40/9) and from there, via direct lines, to the rear bass speaker.

The DVD/CD video function is only available when the vehicle is stationary (up to v = 5 km/h). When the vehicle is moving, only acoustic playback remains active and - for safety reasons - a warning is shown on the Audio/COMAND display
