GF54.65-P-0005CEJ Reversing Camera (RFK), Function
GF54.65-P-0005CEJ Reversing Camera (RFK), Function
- with CODE (218) Backup camera
General function requirements
^ Circuit 15 On
The circuit status is sent by the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) over the interior CAN (CAN B).
Reversing camera, general
The reversing camera system assists the driver when reverse parking and when backing up.
The reversing camera system enables the driver to select between two parking modes:
- Reverse parking
- Parallel parking
The parking mode last selected is activated by engaging reverse gear.
The driver can switch between reverse parking mode and parallel parking mode via the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
Voice support can also be activated via the COMAND controller unit during parallel parking.
The reversing camera system consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Activate reversing camera function sequence
^ Function sequence for activation of outside mirror camera (on model 204.9)
More detailed information on reverse parking and parallel parking is available in the operating instructions document.
Additional function requirements for activating reversing camera
^ Reversing camera system activated over the COMAND controller unit
The trunk rotary tumbler switch (M14/7s1) (on model 204.0) records the status of the trunk lid.
The liftgate rotary tumbler switch (M14/7s1) (on model 204.2/9) records the status of the liftgate.
The rotary tumbler switch is read-in in each case by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2), which then sends the relevant status over the interior CAN.
If the trunk lid (on model 204.0) or the liftgate (on model 204.2/9) is not closed, the picture shown on the COMAND controller unit is superimposed with a warning message.
Activate reversing camera function sequence
When the reverse gear is engaged, the reversing camera system is activated.
Engaging the reverse gear is recorded by the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) and sent over the drive train CAN (CAN C) to the ME-SFI [ME] control (N3/10). This forwards the signal over the chassis CAN (CAN E) to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
The SAM control unit sends the "Reverse gear engaged" signal over the interior CAN (CAN B) to the reversing camera control unit (N66/2).
The reversing camera control unit then supplies power to the reversing camera (B84/3).
The camera pictures recorded by the reversing camera are read in by the reversing camera control unit (Composite Video Baseband Signal) and evaluated.
The current steering angle is recorded by the steering angle sensor (N49). The steering column tube module control unit (N80) reads in the signals and sends them over the chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit. The front SAM control unit sends the signals over the interior CAN to the reversing camera control unit.
The steering angle and stored vehicle parameters are used by the reversing camera control unit to calculate the guide lines and integrated into the received camera pictures.
These pictures are sent to the COMAND controller unit (Composite Video Baseband Signal). The COMAND controller unit then activates the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) over the telematics CAN (CAN A).
The picture data are sent over the low voltage differential signal (LVDS) interface.
Additional function requirements for activating outside mirror camera (with model 204.9)
^ Front passenger mirror not folded in
^ Passenger door CLOSED
^ Vehicle speed v < 15 km/h
Function sequence for activation of outside mirror camera (on model 204.9)
By pressing the corresponding softkeys on the COMAND controller unit, the front passenger outside mirror camera (B84/5) is activated. The COMAND controller unit then sends the request over the interior CAN to the reversing camera control unit. The reversing camera control unit activates the front passenger outside mirror camera. The steering angle and stored vehicle parameters are used by the reversing camera control unit to calculate the guide lines and integrated into the received camera pictures. These pictures are sent to the COMAND controller unit (Composite Video Baseband Signal). The COMAND controller unit then activates the Audio/COMAND display over the telematics CAN (CAN A). The picture data are sent over the LVDS interface.
