Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]), general
The ATA [EDW] monitors the non-actuated state of all relevant inputs after locking the vehicle with the central locking (CL). If a change of status is detected at one of the monitored inputs, an acoustic and visual alarm is given.
The acoustic alarm is output up to 31.5.10 and as of 1.6.10 without code (494) USA version, via the alarm siren and as of 1.6.10 with code (494) USA version via the horns. The visual alarm is output via the exterior lights. In addition the interior illumination is switched on.
The rear SAM control unit is the master control unit for the ATA [EDW].
The ATA [EDW], when armed, monitors:
- Doors
- Trunk lid (model 204.0/3) or liftgate (model 204.2/9)
- Engine hood
- Alarm siren (up to 31.5.10 and as of 1.6.10 without code (494) USA version)
- Position change of vehicle (tow-away protection) (without code (494) USA version, without code (460) Canada version and without code (498) Japan version)
- Motion in interior compartment (interior protection) (with code (882) Interior monitoring (only with ATA [EDW]))
- Rear side window and rear window (on model 204.2/9 with code (882) Interior monitoring (only with ATA [EDW]))
