^ Control of audio signals (sound settings)
The displays and menu presentations for the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) are generated in the COMAND controller unit. The following applications are displayed in the instrument cluster (A1), at the same time as being displayed in the Audio/COMAND display:
^ Audio
^ Telephone
^ Navigation
The COMAND controller unit communicates over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) with the following control units:
^ Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3), with code (537) Digital radio
^ Control unit for satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) with code (536) SIRIUS satellite radio
^ Sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3), with code (810) Sound system
^ Emergency call system control unit (N123/4), with code (359) TELE AID emergency call system
The COMAND controller unit acts as a gateway. It routes the signals from the interior CAN to the telematics CAN and the MOST components and forms the communications interface (master control unit).
An external analog audio source can be connected to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) via the AUX jack in the glove box. Data exchange via a discrete line.
Operating instruction
The COMAND controller unit is operated via:

^ Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9)
^ Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
Diagnosis
The COMAND controller unit is the diagnosis gateway for all MOST users. Diagnosis takes place by means of the Keyword-2000 protocol through the diagnostic CAN to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and over the interior CAN to the COMAND controller unit.
