GF82.85-P-0003-06CW Cockpit Management and Data System (COMAND) Volume/Tone Setting

GF82.85-P-0003-06CW Cockpit Management And Data System (COMAND) Volume/Tone Setting
- with CODE (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)
- with CODE (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer
- with CODE (498) Japan version

In vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the functionalities for the volume and tone settings as well as for the amplification of the audio signals run in the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) before the audio signals are output via the speaker system. In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the functionalities for the volume and tone settings as well as for the amplification of the audio signals take place within the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).

If the vehicle is equipped with code (810) Sound system, additional stereo sound settings and an extended final amplification of the audio signals are possible.

The volume and tone settings are shown on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8).

Operating instructions
The volume/tone settings can be made using the following components:
^ The + and - buttons for setting specific functions and volume control (S111s1) of the multifunction steering wheel (MFL)
^ With the rotary switch of the COMAND controller unit

The volume and tone settings are shown on the Audio/ COMAND display (A40/8). The volume setting can be carried out separately for each audio source. Predefined settings can be selected and reset to the manufacturer default setting via the system settings.

Tone setting
The COMAND controller unit enables manual tone settings (bass, treble, balance, faders) to be made for each audio source. The selection is made and settings can be performed using the Audio/ COMAND control panel (A40/9). The required tone settings can be performed via the "Sound" menu. The sound can be adjusted separately for each function (e.g. CD, radio reception, traffic announcements). Vehicles with code (810) Sound system additionally have the following tone options through the sound system amplifier control unit:
^ SURROUND
^ Ambient

If the tone emphasis is changed (balance, fader) the volume relationship between the individual speakers changes relative to each other.

Speed-dependent volume control (SDV) and Dynamic Range Optimization (DRO)
Speed-dependent volume control (SDV) and dynamic range optimization (DRO) are used to adapt the volume to the noise level in the vehicle interior. In the process, the vehicle speed signal for the speed-dependent volume control and the signal input on the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) are used as relationship indicators for dynamic range optimization.
