GF91.60-P-1100RI Passenger-Side Seat Occupied Recognition Function

GF91.60-P-1100RI Passenger-side Seat Occupied Recognition Function
- except CODE (494) USA version
- except CODE (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series"

General function requirements
^ C. 15R On

The status of circuit 15R is transmitted by the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) via interior CAN (CAN B).

Passenger-side seat occupied recognition, general
The front passenger seat occupation status is detected by the supplemental restraint system (SRS). The automatic child seat recognition detects if a child seat has been fitted.

The automatic child seat recognition function is only guaranteed to work with a child seat that has been approved and coded by Daimler AG. This child seat must be equipped with two transponders (resonators), which are located at the left and right in its base.

The passenger-side seat occupied recognition consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence for front passenger seat occupied recognition
^ Function sequence for outputting status and fault messages

Function sequence for front passenger seat occupied recognition
The front passenger seat occupancy as well as the automatic child seat recognition are sensed by the front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor (B48). The signals are forwarded to the restraint systems control unit (N2/7).

The following situations are defined:
- Seat unoccupied:
If the belt is not buckled, the front passenger airbag unit, front passenger sidebag unit and front passenger emergency tensioning retractor unit are disabled

If the seat belt is buckled, the front passenger airbag unit is switched off.

- Seat occupied (light or heavy person):
front passenger airbag unit enabled (ignition of first stage or both stages).

- Child seat detected:
Front passenger airbag unit is disabled.

Function sequence for outputting status and fault messages
The output of status and fault messages consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence for actuating the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp (E16)
^ Function sequence for outputting fault messages

Function sequence for actuating the airbag OFF indicator lamp

Automatic child seat recognition
The signal for switching the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp on or off is sent by the restraint systems control unit over the interior CAN to the lower control panel control unit (N72). It switches the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp On or Off.

Function sequence for outputting fault messages
If the seat occupied and automatic child seat recognition is defective or communication with the restraint systems control unit is interrupted (e.g. plug not connected), the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp is also switched on. A fault is also stored in the restraint systems control unit and an appropriate message is shown on the instrument cluster (A1).

If the child seat is defective or improperly positioned (only one resonator detected), the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) in the instrument cluster and the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp are switched on.
