GF07.04-P-6081MOR Component Description For Pressure Sensor Upstream Of Throttle Valve
- refinement package
- as of model year 09
Component Identification:
Location
The pressure sensor upstream of the throttle valve is located on the throttle valve actuator. The boost pressure upstream of the throttle valve is led to it via a hose assembly.
Task
The pressure sensor upstream of throttle valve detects the boost pressure for boost pressure control.
Component Identification:
Function
The charge air pressure deforms a membrane which operates on a potentiometer. This alters the resistance value of the potentiometer and influences the signal voltage which serves the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) as information about the charge air pressure.
Along with the signal voltage from the pressure sensor downstream of the air filter for the right cylinder bank it is used to calculate the ratio of pressure upstream/downstream of the turbocharger for boost pressure control.
Observe blue color coding of the pressure sensor upstream of the throttle valve. If the pressure sensor upstream of the throttle valve is swapped with a pressure sensor downstream of the air filter (green color coding) then the engine stops after engine start.
