Component Identification:
The switchover valve is mounted at the front of variable intake manifold.
Task
The switchover valve actuates the vacuum unit for tumble flap switchover with vacuum from the vacuum reservoir to achieve tumble flap switchover.
Design
The switchover valve consists of a solenoid with a coil resistance of about 30 ohms, two valve plates, three air connections and a 2-pin connector.
Function
Component Identification:
The switchover valve is actuated by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) by means of a ground signal for tumble flap switchover. The voltage supply takes place from "circuit 87 M".
The valve plates actuated by the coil anchors switch between the aeration (atmosphere) and supply of vacuum from the vacuum reservoir.
In an energized condition connection 1 is closed by a valve plate and vacuum from the vacuum reservoir is built up in the vacuum unit for tumble flap switchover. The tumble flap closes.
In a deenergized condition connection 2 is closed by the other valve plate and the connection between connection 1 and connection 3 restored. The intake manifold tumble flap switchover valve is again aerated (via connection 3) and the tumble flaps open.
