GF30.30-P-3301CA Component Description For Radar Sensors Control Unit
GF30.30-P-3301CA Component Description For Radar Sensors Control Unit
MODEL 207 up to 31.5.11
- with CODE (233) Distronic Plus
Front passenger footwell, partially disassembled
N62/1 Radar sensors control unit
Location
The radar sensors control unit is located at the front in the front passenger footwell under the cover.
Task
The radar sensors control unit is the unit that evaluates the short range radar and the long range radar.
The following tasks arise from this for the radar sensors control unit:
^ Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Controlling functions
^ Output of signals
Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Chassis CAN (CAN E)
^ Vehicle dynamics CAN (CAN H)
^ Sensor CAN (CAN S)
Chassis CAN
As an example, the radar sensors control unit reads in the following information via the chassis CAN:
- Status of the accelerator pedal
- Drive position status
- Service brake, status
- Yaw rate status
- Wheel speeds and wheel rotation direction
- Status information from the driver assist or driving safety system
- Parking brake status
- Status of steering angle
- Position data from navigation (for the Western Europe version)
- Driver request via the cruise control lever (S40/4)
- Driver request via menu settings in the instrument cluster (A1)
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Vehicle dynamics CAN
The signals from the following components are read in via the vehicle dynamics CAN:
- DISTRONIC electric controller unit (A89)
- Long range radar radar data
- Long range radar diagnosis data
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Sensor CAN
The signals of the following components are read in via the sensor CAN:
- Left front bumper DISTRONIC (DTR) sensor (B29/2)
- Right front bumper DISTRONIC (DTR) sensor (B29/3)
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the integrated microprocessors and output of respective signals occurs.
Due to the high performance of the radar sensors control unit, it is equipped with two microprocessors (clock frequency 40 MHz each).
Controlling functions
The radar sensors control unit controls the following functions:
- Variable Speed Limiter function (Speedtronic) (without code (494) USA version)
- Permanent Speed Limiter (e.g. operation of winter tires)
- DISTRONIC PLUS
- Automatic deactivation of the radar sensor system (for the Western European version)
Output of signals
The signals are issued over the following connections:
^ Chassis CAN
^ Vehicle dynamics CAN
^ Sensor CAN
Chassis CAN
The radar sensors control unit takes on full control of the vehicle longitudinal movements after evaluating the input data, by sending signals to accelerate, decelerate and shift gear via the chassis CAN. Warning tones and display in the IC are also actuated by the radar sensors control unit and the PRE-SAFE measures are requested via the chassis CAN.
The radar sensors control unit warning tones and indication are also requested in the IC.
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Vehicle dynamics CAN
As an example the radar sensors control unit transmits the following signals via the vehicle dynamics CAN:
- Radar requirements of the long range radar (vehicle / operation-specific data)
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Sensor CAN
The radar sensors control unit transmits the following signals via the sensor CAN:
- Radar requirements of the short range radar (vehicle / operation-specific data)
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
