GF82.15-P-3000FL Headlamp Cleaning System, Function

GF82.15-P-3000FL Headlamp Cleaning System, Function
- with CODE (600) Headlamp cleaning system

Function requirements, general
^ Low beam ON
^ Engine running (circuit 61 ON)

The low beams may be switched on because of the auto on/off headlamps function, the daytime running lights function or manually. The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) generates the status "Low beams On" in accordance with the prevailing request.

The circuit 61 status is provided by the CDI control unit (N3/9) (for diesel engine) or by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (for gasoline engine) over the chassis CAN (CAN E).

Headlamp cleaning system, general
The automatic cleaning function of the left front lamp unit (E1) and the right front lamp unit (E2) is implemented by the headlamp cleaning system.

Function sequence for headlamp cleaning system
With the first actuation of the windshield washer system following the engine start, the headlamp cleaning system is activated automatically.
The steering column tube module control unit (N80) reads in the switch position of the combination switch (S4) directly and transmits the request over the chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit, which subsequently actuates the headlamp cleaning system pump (M5/2). The telescopic nozzles extend and the washing water cleans the front lamp units.

After a further ten washing requests, the headlamp cleaning system pump is actuated once more.

The number of washing requests is recorded by a counter in the front SAM control unit.

An automatic counter reset occurs when the ten washing requests have been reached or manually by switching circuit 15 off.
