The DIRECT SELECT INTERFACE is in the center console.
Task
General
The DIRECT SELECT INTERFACE performs non-contact detection of the positions of the selector lever via integrated sensors with Hall elements, and detection of the status of the "P" button.
The DIRECT SELECT INTERFACE is flashable and codable.
The ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) serves as the interface between the chassis CAN (CAN E) and drive train CAN (CAN C).

The DIRECT SELECT INTERFACE evaluates the following input signals and outputs the appropriate output signals:

- Circuit 30 (fused)

Drive train CAN input signals
- Status of left front door rotary tumbler switch (A85s1), from left front door control unit (N69/1) via interior CAN (CAN B), front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1), chassis CAN and ME-SFI [ME] control unit
- Status of service brake, status of brake lights switch (S9/1) and wheel speeds, of Premium Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/7) over chassis CAN and ME-SFI [ME] control unit
- Status of circuit 15, from electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) over chassis CAN and ME-SFI [ME] control unit
- On-board electrical system status and diagnostic communication, from front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module via chassis CAN and ME-SFI [ME] control unit
Drive train CAN output signals
- Diagnostic communication, to front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module via ME-SFI [ME] control unit and chassis CAN
- Selector lever position and status of "P" button to fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4), to ME-SFI [ME] control unit and to intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80)
- Selector lever position and status of button "P" via the ME-SFI [ME] control unit and chassis CAN at the Premium Electronic Stability Program control unit as well as at the instrument cluster (A1)
