AN46.11-P-0001-02EW Retrofit steering wheel heater wiring harness
Component Identification:
Component Identification:
Component Identification:
1 Cut off, as shown, the brown lines (br) and brown/red lines (br/rt) which are twisted together.
Only one brown line (br) and brown/ red line (br/rt) which has been twisted together is required for connection to the left vehicle floor interior CAN potential distributor electrical connector. The brown lines (br) and brown/red lines (br/rt) are connected to each other under the insulation by connector sleeves.
Component Identification:
2 Install plug contact (5.1) of brown/red line (br/rt) in contact cavity "1" of the black coupling (2-pin) (4) included in the package.
3 Install plug contact (5.2) of brown line (br) in contact cavity "2" of the black coupling (2-pin) (4) included in the package.
4 Lock retainer (arrow A) of black coupling (2-pin) (4).
Component Identification:
5 Open cover (6.1) on front driver footwell cable duct (6).
6 Connect black coupling (2-pin) (4) to left vehicle floor interior CAN potential distributor connector (X30/32).
7 Route brown line and brown/red line towards the front out of the driver footwell cable duct (6).
8 Close cover (6.1) on front driver footwell cable duct (6).
Component Identification:
9 Loop any excess length of the brown line (br) and brown/red line (br/rt) and fix in place with cable ties (10).
10 Wrap felt tape (9) around brown line (br) and brown/red line (br/ rt) on the black coupling (4-pin) (1) starting at a length of 250 mm.
11 Wrap felt tape (9) around the power supply wiring harness previously installed on the black coupling (2-pin) (8) starting at a length of 250 mm.
12 Route brown line (br), brown/red line (br/rt) and power supply wiring harness along vehicle wiring harness (7) to installation location of steering wheel heater control unit and fix in place with cable ties (11).
The steering wheel heater control unit is later installed on the trim under the instrument panel on the left.
The sections wrapped in felt tape (9) may not be fixed to the vehicle wiring harness (7) so that they can be connected to the steering wheel heater control unit later.
Component Identification:
13 Wrap felt tape (12) around the brown/black line (br/sw) and red/ black line (rt/sw), as shown, over a length of 800 mm.
Component Identification:
14 Route brown/black line (br/sw) and red/ black line (rt/sw) of steering wheel heater wiring harness along vehicle wiring harness (7) to yellow coupling (14-pin) of the steering column tube switch module wiring harness (14).
Routing must take place on the vehicle wiring harness (7) above the steering column tube (13). If this is not carried out correctly, the brown/black line (br/sw) and the red/black line (rt/sw) can wrap around the steering column tube (13) during steering maneuvers.
15 Fix brown/black line (br/sw) and red/black line (rt/sw) of steering wheel heater wiring harness to vehicle wiring harness (7) with cable ties.
Fix brown/black line (br/sw) and red/black line (rt/sw) in place in such a way that no loops are formed. Lay any excess length in loops the area of the steering wheel heater control unit.
Component Identification:
16 Remove fuse (2.1) from yellow coupling (14-pin) (2) of steering column tube switch module.
17 Install red/black line (rt/sw) in slot "6" of the yellow coupling (14-pin) (2) of the steering column tube switch module.
18 Install brown/black line (br/sw) in slot "7" of the yellow coupling (14-pin) (2) of the steering column tube switch module.
19 Install fuse (2.1) in yellow coupling (14-pin) (2).
20 Fix brown/black line (br/sw) and red/black line (rt/sw) to steering column tube switch module wiring harness (14) with cable ties.
Fix brown/black line (br/sw) and red/black line (rt/sw) in place in such a way that they cannot catch on the steering column tube (13).
