SUBJECT: Models 164, X164, 212, 251, Model Years 2009 - 2011
Update Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Control Module Software
This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that the SCR Control Module Software may not meet current specifications in the subject vehicles. Dealers will update the SCR Control Module Software at the next workshop visit.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.
Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.
Approximately 21,046 vehicles are affected.
Procedure
Note:
^ Use DAS/Xentry 05-06/12 or higher.
^ Follow the steps exactly as described in DAS/Xentry.
^ Connect battery charger
1. Connect Star Diagnosis to vehicle.
2. Update software for SCR control module:
Control units/Drive/SCR Selective Catalytic Reduction/ Control Unit Adaptations/Control unit programming.
Note:
^ Perform service work on other vehicles while the software for the control module is being updated.
^ MB object number for software after software update: 0004482254, 6429026501, 6429033504; version (internal): V23 (MB object number for software and version number may vary by model and/or model year).
^ This service campaign software update addresses fault codes 203C11, 20BA1A (The AdBlue fill level sensor has a short circuit to ground, output for heating element of AdBlue pressure line has a malfunction.).
