GF82.10-P-3013FL Emergency Lamp Control, Function

Function requirements for emergency light actuation, general
^ Circuit 15 ON

The status of circuit 15 is made available on the interior CAN (CAN B) by the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73).

Emergency light actuation, general
The emergency light actuation ensures the minimum exterior lighting in the event of failure of individual system components of the vehicle exterior illumination.

Function sequence, emergency light actuation
The aim of the emergency lights actuation is to prevent a complete failure of the vehicle outside lights due to a processor failure or due to the failure of the interior CAN. Independent hardware exists for this purpose both in the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and in the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2), which ensures the emergency light function.
In the event of a failure of the interior CAN, the front SAM control unit or the rear SAM control unit, the front standing lights and low beams actuation are activated within a period t < 3 s from the separate hardware in the front SAM control unit and the standing lights actuation is also activated and - depending on status of circuit 54 - the brake light actuation by the separate hardware in the rear SAM control unit.
