AR42.10-P-0225-01CV Remove/Install Guide Sleeve and Seal Boot

AR42.10-P-0225-01CV Remove/install guide sleeve and seal boot

Repair Materials:

Component Identification:

The brake caliper (1) must not be detached from the brake hose for replacing the guide sleeve (2).

The repair kit consists of guide sleeves (2) with protective caps, seal boots (3), repair grease and to be fitted to each brake caliper (1).

Removing
1 Clean brake caliper (1) with LU cleaner.
2 Press guide sleeve (2) and seal boot (3) outwards.
3 Lever seal boot (3) out of radial groove (4) and push back, so that this remains on the guide sleeve (2).
4 Using a suitable tool, press the guide sleeve (2) out of the housing bore (5) of the brake caliper (1) from the inside outwards.

Component Identification:

5 Pull seal boot (3) out of housing bore (5) of the brake caliper (1).
6 Clean inside area of the housing bore (5) with LU cleaner and check for damage and wear.

The inside area must not be processed with tools which remove material or similar, otherwise the surface will be damaged.

If wear due to corrosion or ridging is present on the inside area, then the brake caliper (1) must be replaced.

Install
7 Fill the grooves of the seal boot (3) with approx. 2 grams of repair grease.

The seal boot (3) must not be packed with too much repair grease otherwise optimum displacement of the guide sleeve is not guaranteed.

Component Identification:

8 Push on the seal boot (3) until shortly after the radial groove (4) on the guide sleeve (2).
9 Slide the preassembled seal boot (3) with guide sleeve (2) into the housing bore (5) of the brake caliper (1).
10 Insert guide sleeve (2) from the inside outwards in the housing bore (5).

Pay attention to the correct seating of the seal boot (3) in the radial grooves (4, 7) otherwise the repair grease may escape.

11 Move the guide sleeve (2) to and fro several times (arrow).

In order to guarantee an even distribution of repair grease in the sliding zone of the guide sleeve (2).

12 Using a suitable tool, detach protective caps (6) from guide sleeve (2).

Do not use any sharp-edged tool in order to avoid damaging the end face of the guide sleeve (2).

13 Carry out visual inspection for the correct seat of the seal boot (3) and clean contact surfaces on the end face of the guide sleeve (2) with LU cleaner.

The contact surfaces must be absolutely free from grease and dirt otherwise the bolts may shear when tightening to the specified torque.
