GF80.20-P-2002FL Operating Central Locking With Transmitter Key, Function

GF80.20-P-2002FL Operating Central Locking With Transmitter Key, Function

Function requirements, general
^ Terminal 15C OFF

Operating central locking with transmitter key, general function
The central locking can operated with the transmitter key (A8/1). The operation of the transmitter key comprises the following partial functions:
^ Function sequence for presetting global and selective unlocking
^ Function sequence for locking or unlocking
^ Function sequence for acoustic locking feedback (as of 1.6.10)
^ Function sequence for visual locking feedback
^ Function sequence for remote trunk opening (model 212.0)
^ Function sequence for remote rear door opening (model 212.2)

Function sequence for presetting global and selective unlocking
If the unlock and lock buttons on the transmitter key are pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds, a change between the "global" and "selective" settings takes place. The indicator lamp on the transmitter key comes on for confirmation.

Globally unlocking:
The entire vehicle is unlocked by pressing the "Unlock" button on the transmitter key.

Selective unlocking:
Only the driver door and the fuel filler flap are unlocked when the "Unlock" button on the transmitter key is pressed once. The next actuation unlocks the entire vehicle.

Function sequence for locking or unlocking
Then the "Lock or unlock" button the transmitter key is pressed, it transmits a radio signal via the FM 1, AM, CL and KEYLESS-GO antenna amplifier (A2/18) to the rear SAM Control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). This relays the signal to the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) via the interior CAN (CAN-B).
Parallel to the radio signal, an infrared signal is transmitted to the driver front door infrared remote control receiver (A26/1) (precise aiming required).

This signal is read in by the left front door control unit (N69/1) and transmitted to the electronic ignition switch control unit with interior CAN.

The infrared and radio signals include the same information (redundant); the first signal received is accepted. This function serves for operating safety in the event that the radio signal is blocked by interference such as electromagnetic fields.

The access authorization for the transmitter key is checked in both cases by the electronic ignition switch control unit.
If the access authorization is valid, the electronic ignition switch control unit transmits the command "Lock or unlock" with the interior CAN to the:
- Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
- Rear SAM control unit
- Left front door control unit
- Right front door control unit (N69/2)
- Left rear door control unit (N69/3)
- Right rear door control unit (N69/4)

They unlock or lock the:
- Left front door central locking motor (A85m1)
- Right front door central locking motor (A85/1m1)
- Left rear door central locking motor (A85/3m1)
- Right rear door central locking motor (A85/4m1)
- Tank cap central locking motor (M14/10)

On vehicles with code (885) Extended theft protection, the following components are actuated additionally:
- Left front door additional door lock actuator motor (A85m4)
- Right front door additional door lock actuator motor (A85/1m4)
- Left rear door additional door lock actuator motor(A85/3m4)
- Right rear door additional door lock actuator motor (A85/4m4)

Moreover, the rear SAM control unit inhibits the opening request from the trunk lid external operation switch (S88/8) (model 212.0) or liftgate external operation switch (S88/8) (model 212.2.) or enables it.

Vehicles with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA): If the driver door in the locked vehicle is opened mechanically with the emergency key, the anti-theft alarm system (ATA) triggers an alarm.

Function sequence for acoustic locking feedback (as of 1.6.10)
The acoustic locking feedback can be selected and activated in the instrument cluster (A1) over the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110). The control signals from the left multifunction steering wheel button group are read in by the steering wheel electronics (N135) via the steering LIN (LIN E1) by the steering column tube module control unit (N80), which relays the control signals to the instrument cluster via the chassis CAN (CAN E). The instrument cluster transmits the status of the acoustic locking feedback to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.

If the acoustic locking feedback function is activated and the successful locking and unlocking, an acoustic feedback is output by momentarily actuating the left horn (H2) and right horn (H2/1). When the transmitter key is valid and the acoustic locking feedback is activated, the electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the command "Lock or unlock" to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN. Then the front SAM control unit momentarily actuates the horns via the horn relays (N10/1kO).

Number of acoustic signals:
^ Locking: three times
^ Unlocking: one

If a door is still open when locking, there is no acoustic feedback.

On vehicles up to 31.5.10 with code (494) USA version, the acoustic locking feedback is realized over the alarm siren (H3/1).

Function sequence for visual locking feedback
After successfully locking or unlocking, the following components provide visual feedback:
- Left turn signal indicator lamp (A1e1)
- Right turn signal indicator lamp (A1e2)
- Left front turn signal lamp (E1e5)
- Right front turn signal lights (E2e5)
- Left rear turn signal lights (E3e1)
- Right rear turn signal lights (E4e1)
- Left outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/5)
- Right outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/6)

The function is controlled by the front SAM control unit, transmitting the turn signal as blinkmaster via the interior CAN

Number of visual signals
- Locking: flashing 3 times
- Unlocking: flashing once

If a door is still open when locking, there is no visual feedback.

Detailed information for exterior lights is given in the separate description.

Function sequence for remote trunk opening (model 212.0)
When the button "Trunk lid remote opening" on the transmitter key is actuated, it transmits a radio signal to the rear SAM control unit with the FM 1, AM and CL antenna amplifier and KEYLESS-GO This relays the signal to the electronic ignition switch control unit with interior CAN.
The electronic ignition lock control unit checks the access authorization for the transmitter key.
If the access authorization is valid, the electronic ignition switch control unit transmits the command "Lock or unlock" to the rear SAM control unit via the interior CAN.

The rear SAM control unit unlocks the rotary tumbler of the trunk lid via the trunk lid central locking motor (M14/7).
Then the trunk lid is opened mechanically by spring force.

It is also possible to transmit signals via infrared as described under "Lock or unlock", in practical application, the remote trunk lid opening function is required only, when interference such as electromagnetic fields block the radio signal.

Detailed information on the liftgate control is given in the function description "Remote trunk lid closing"

Function sequence for remote rear door opening (model 212.2)
When the button "Rear door remote opening" on the transmitter key is actuated, it transmits a radio signal to the rear SAM control unit with the FM 1, AM and CL antenna amplifier and KEYLESS-GO. This relays the signal to the electronic ignition switch control unit with interior CAN.
The electronic ignition lock control unit checks the access authorization for the transmitter key.
If the access authorization is valid, the electronic ignition switch control unit transmits the command "Lock or unlock" to the rear SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
The rear SAM control unit unlocks the rotary tumbler of the liftgate via the liftgate central locking motor (M14/7). The liftgate is then opened automatically.

It is also possible to transmit signals via infrared as described under "Lock or unlock", however, in practical application, the remote trunk lid opening function is required only, when interference such as electromagnetic fields block the radio signal.

Detailed information on the liftgate control is given in the function description "Rear-end door remote control"
