The wiring harnesses are fixed in place after contacting.
1 Route wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding (2) from front passenger footwell over the center tunnel into the driver footwell to the longitudinal member as per picture.
Do not damage the wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding (2) by crushing or pinching.
The connectors on the wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding (2) are marked with small flags.
2 Route line tie-out for supply (18) from wiring harness for supply (3) in front passenger footwell over the center tunnel into the driver footwell.
3 Route line tie-out for supply (18) from wiring harness for supply (3) on existing wiring harness along through the firewall to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module.
Do not damage the line tie-out for supply (18) by crushing or pinching.
4 Disconnect fuse carrier (19) of line tie-out for supply (18) and replace by enclosed pin "SLK 2.8 x 0.8".
Pin "SLK 2.8 x 0.8" is located in the attached bag (arrow) on the line tie-out for supply (18).
The fuse carrier (19) is no longer required.
5 Disconnect orange coupling C11 (arrow A) from front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and plug supply branch-off line (18) with pin "SLK 2.8 x 0.8" into contact cavity 6 (arrow B) of orange coupling C11.
6 Place illuminated door sill molding control unit (1) in front passenger footwell.
7 Connect black 33-pin coupling (8) from wiring harness for supply (3) with illuminated door sill molding control unit (1).
8 Connect white 6-pin coupling (10b) of wiring harness for supply (3) with white 6-pin plug (10a) of wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding (2).
9 Connect ground (16) of wiring harness for supply (3) to the ground point of right footwell (W15/1).
A maximum of 5 connectors may be connected to a ground point. In the event of over-assignment another ground point should be selected.
10 Connect interior CAN connector (9) of wiring harness for supply with electrical connector of potential distributor for interior CAN (right vehicle floor) (X30/33).
The installation of converter (4) on the right side is shown in the picture. The installation on the left side takes place as with the installation on the right side.
11 Stick felt tape (4) all-round the converter (arrows C).
12 Connect black 8-pin coupling (12) of wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding (2) with converter (4).
13 Fix converter (4) in place on existing wiring harness in cable duct as per picture.
Do not damage wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding (2) and existing wiring harness by crushing or pinching.
14 Fix wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding (2) in place on existing wiring harness in cable duct.
Do not damage wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding (2) and existing wiring harness by crushing or pinching.
15 Strap down excess length of wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding (2) and of wiring harness for supply (3) in front passenger footwell and fix in place on existing wiring harness.
When fastening illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (2) and supply wiring harness (3), ensure that other components are not damaged or their function impaired.
The wiring harnesses are additionally fixed in place with felt strips in the area of the center tunnel and driver footwell.
