GF82.60-P-0004-07FL Audio System Switch On/off Characteristics
- with CODE (510) Audio 20 with CD changer
- with CODE (523) MB Audio 20 radio

General
The switch on/off characteristic comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Activating the overall system
^ Response upon pressing the "ON/OFF" button
^ Switch-off characteristics when transmitter key (A8/1) is removed
^ Switch off characteristics at undervoltage

Activating the overall system
When the vehicle is opened, all data bus systems are activated to ensure a faster switch-on procedure. After inserting the transmitter key into the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and turning to position 1 ("circuit 5R ON"), the display on the radio (A2) is switched on, if it had been switched on the last time the transmitter key was removed. The system that was active before the transmitter key was removed last (e.g. radio tuner) is switched on and the corresponding start menu is displayed. If the radio was switched off, a warning always appears containing general information about how to use the system.

Response upon pressing the "ON/OFF" button
The radio with navigation can also be switched on with the transmitter key removed by pressing the "ON/OFF" button. All the functions are then available for t = 30 minutes Then the radio automatically switches itself off.

Switch-off characteristics when transmitter key is removed
The radio is switched off when the transmitter key is removed. If the radio is switched off, it is always in "Standby" mode when the interior CAN (CAN B) is active.

Switch off characteristics at undervoltage
If there is an undervoltage from the on-board electrical system battery (G1), a message appears on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) requesting that the engine be started. If the engine is not started, after t =3min another warning is issued stating that t = 10 s remain for switching on the engine before the audio system shuts down.

If the audio system has switched itself off and the on-board voltage increases again, the radio does not automatically switch itself on again. The audio system can be switched on again manually. The warning procedure then runs again, until the cause for the undervoltage is rectified.
