Load CD or DVD function sequence
Pressing the CD/DVD load button on the "audio equipment" activates the display in the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) of the "Cartridge menu" and of the DVD slot last selected in the DVD changer. The desired DVD slot can be selected by turning or pressing the controls on the Audio/COMAND control panel to the left or right. The DVD slot selected for loading is confirmed by vertically pressing on the Audio/COMAND control panel. The desired DVD slot can also be directly selected via the keypad (1 to 6) on the "audio equipment". The CD or DVD may not be inserted until after the prompt in the Audio/COMAND display (by means of a message, e.g. "Please insert disk 2"). Insert the CD or DVD into the CD/DVD drive. A message is shown in the Audio/COMAND display (e.g. "Disk 2 being loaded...").
The loading process can vary depending on the type of data storage device involved.
Once the CD or DVD is loaded, the display changes back to the "Cartridge menu". If no CD or DVD is inserted, the display also changes after t = 20 s back to "Cartridge menu". A loaded CD or DVD is shown in the "Cartridge menu".
The "Fill up empty spaces" menu enables several CDs or DVDs to be loaded one after the other. The CD or DVD may not be inserted until after the prompt in the Audio/COMAND display (by means of a message, e.g. "Please insert disk 3"). The "audio equipment" then starts to load the empty DVD slots.
The data exchange between the "audio equipment" and the Audio/ COMAND display and the Audio/COMAND control panel takes place via the telematics CAN (CAN A). Video signals are sent over a low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line to the Audio/ COMAND display.
Eject CD or DVD function sequence
Pressing the load button on the "audio equipment" activates the display of the "Cartridge menu" in the Audio/COMAND display and of the DVD slot last selected in the DVD changer. The desired DVD slot can be selected by turning or pressing the controls on the Audio/COMAND control panel to the left or right. The CD or DVD selected for ejecting is confirmed by vertically pressing on the Audio/COMAND control panel. The desired CD or DVD can also be directly selected via the keypad (1 to 6) in the "audio equipment". While the CD or DVD is ejected, a message appears in the Audio/COMAND display (e.g. "Disk 2 being ejected..."). As soon as the CD or DVD appears in the CD/DVD drive slot, a message is shown (e.g. "Please remove disk 2").
As soon as the CD or DVD was removed, the display changes back to the "Cartridge menu". If the CD or DVD is not removed, it is loaded again.
With the "Eject all" menu, all the loaded CDs or DVDs can be ejected one after the other.
As soon as the CD or DVD appears in the CD/DVD drive slot, a message appears (e.g. "Please remove disk 3"). If the CD or DVD was removed from the CD/DVD drive slot, the next CD or DVD is ejected until the entire DVD cartridge is empty. An ejected CD or DVD is shown in the "Cartridge menu" as an empty DVD slot.
The ejection procedure can be stopped at any time by pressing the CD/DVD load button on the "audio equipment" or the "Back" button (A40/9s2) of the Audio/COMAND control panel.
