GF54.65-P-0005FLJ Reversing Camera (RFK), Function

GF54.65-P-0005FLJ Reversing Camera (RFK), Function
- with CODE (218) Backup camera
- with CODE (498) Japan version

Function requirements, general
^ Circuit 15 On
^ Trunk lid (model 212.0) or liftgate (model 212.2) closed
^ Reversing camera function activated through COMAND control unit (A40/3)
^ Drive position "R" engaged

The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the status of circuit 15 over the interior CAN (CAN B) to the reversing camera control unit (N66/2).

The trunk lid rotary tumbler switch (M14/7s1) (model 212.0) records the status of the trunk lid.
The liftgate rotary tumbler switch (M14/7s1) (model 212.2 records the status of the liftgate.
The status of the trunk lid rotary tumbler switch or the liftgate rotary tumbler switch is read by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and sent to the interior CAN.

If the trunk lid or liftgate is not closed, the picture on the Audio/ COMAND display (A40/8) is overlaid with a warning message.

Reversing camera, general
The reversing camera function enables the driver to select between the following parking modes:
- Right angle parking (reverse parking)
- Lengthwise parking (parallel parking)

The corresponding selection takes place at the operating level of the COMAND controller unit. The last selected mode of parking is activated by engaging gear range "R".

In addition, voice assistance can be activated when parallel parking.
The operating instructions for this are described in a separate document.

Reversing camera function sequence
The reversing camera function is activated by engaging gear range "R".
The status of the current transmission selector lever position is sent by the intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80) to the drive train CAN (CAN C) and forwarded by the CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) over the chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit. The front SAM control unit transmits the "reverse gear engaged" status via the interior CAN to the reversing camera control unit. The reversing camera control unit provides the reversing camera (B84/3) with power as a result.
The pictures taken by the reversing camera are read and processed as a Composite Video Baseband Signal by the reversing camera control unit.

The reversing camera control unit makes calculations based on the steering angle and the stored vehicle guideline parameters, which are shown on the pictures taken.
The rotation angle is recorded by the steering angle sensor (N49). The steering column tube module control unit (N80) reads in the steering angle sensor signals and transmits these to the front SAM control unit via the chassis CAN. The front SAM control unit routes this over the interior CAN to the reversing camera control unit.

The reversing camera control unit transmits the processed pictures as a Composite Video Baseband Signal to the COMAND controller unit. The COMAND controller unit then activates the Audio/ COMAND display over the telematics CAN (CAN A).
The pictures processed by the reversing camera control unit are then sent directly via the low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line to the Audio/COMAND display and output there.
