GF54.65-P-0005FL Reversing Camera (RFK), Function

GF54.65-P-0005FL Reversing Camera (RFK), Function
- with CODE (218) Backup camera
- except CODE (498) Japan version

Function requirements, general
^ Circuit 15 On
^ Reversing camera function activated through COMAND control unit (A40/3)
^ Reverse gear (transmission 711, 716) or gear range "R" (transmission 722) engaged

The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the circuit 15 status to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) via the interior CAN (CAN B).

Reversing camera, general
The reversing camera function supports the driver when reverse parking and reversing.

Reversing camera function sequence
When the reverse gear or gear range "R" is engaged the reversing camera (B84/3) is powered by the reversing camera power supply module (N66/10). Actuation of the reversing camera power supply module takes place via the rear SAM control unit as soon as this actuates the left backup lamp (E3e3) and the right back up lamp (E4e3).

The "reverse gear engaged" status is defined as follows.

Vehicles with transmission 711, 716:
Reverse gear engagement is detected via the status of the backup lamp switch (S16/2), which is read in directly by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

Vehicles with transmission 722.6:
The request to engage gear "R" is defined by the relevant selector lever position and output by the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) on the drive train CAN (CAN C). The CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) reads in the status of the selector lever position and relays it to the front SAM control unit via the chassis CAN.

Vehicles with transmission 722.9:
The status of the current selector lever position is sent by the Intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80) sent to the drive train CAN and forwarded by the CDI control unit or the ME- SFI [ME] control unit over the chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit.

The front SAM control unit generates a uniform signal which is independent of the transmission variant from the incoming information and transmits it via the interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit.

The rear SAM control unit then actuates the reversing camera power supply module, which supplies power to the reversing camera.
The pictures taken by the reversing camera are sent as a Composite Video Baseband Signal (CVBS) over the reversing camera power supply module to the COMAND controller unit.

The COMAND controller unit then activates the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) over the telematics CAN (CAN A). The pictures taken from the reversing camera are then sent directly via the low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line to the Audio/COMAND display and output there.
