N62 Parking system control unit
Location
The parking system control unit is located on the equipment carrier plate in the trunk.
Task
The parking system control unit is responsible for the following tasks:
- Control of systems
- Reading in of sensors
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuating components
Control of systems
The parking system control unit controls the function of the exclusive parking assist system.
Reading in of sensors
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN (CAN E)
Direct line
The signals from the following components are read via a direct line:
- Outer left front parking system distance sensor (B8/1)
- Center left front parking system distance sensor (B8/2)
- Inner left front parking system distance sensor (B8/3)
- Inner right front parking system distance sensor (B8/4)
- Center right front parking system distance sensor (B8/5)
- Outer right front parking system distance sensor (B8/6)
- Outer right rear parking system distance sensor (B8/7)
- Inner right rear parking system distance sensor (B8/8)
- Inner left rear parking system distance sensor (B8/9)
- Outer left rear parking system distance sensor (B8/10)
Chassis CAN
The following information is read-in over chassis CAN:
- By the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1):
- Status of parking brake indicator switch (S12)
- Data from rain/light sensor (B38/2)
- Parking system button status (N72/1s8)
- Status of backup lamp switch (S16/2) (with transmission 711, 716)
- "Trailer detected" status message
- Vehicle speed signal
- Sent from CDI control unit or ME-SFI [ME] control unit:
- Status of gear range (with transmission 722)
- Supplied by the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) (without code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS, except model 212.074/077/274/277) or by the Premium Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/7) (with code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS, or model 212.074/077/274/277):
- Signals from the left front axle rpm sensor (L6/1)
- Signals from the right front axle rpm sensor (L6/2)
- Signals from the left rear axle rpm sensor (L6/3)
- Signals from the right rear axle rpm sensor (L6/4)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
