The audio equipment in vehicles with code (810) Sound system sends the call tone by means of audio signals to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).
From there, the ring tone is transmitted via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Center dashboard speaker (H4/27)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/55) (with model 212.2)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57) (with model 212.0)

- Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
- Right rear door tweeter (H4/4h1)
At the same time, the audio equipment mutes the currently active audio source (e.g. in radio mode) (MUTE). This takes place internally in the "audio unit".
The caller ID is displayed on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) by the audio equipment via a low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line.
The call identification is also shown in the instrument cluster (A1) via the interior CAN (CAN B).
With basic telephony, the mobile phone receives the call signal via the mobile phone antenna. The call signal is then forwarded to the "audio unit" in the following way:
