Remote trunk closing, general function
The remote trunk closing feature allows the trunk lid to be closed automatically.

The remote trunk closing feature comprises the following partial functions:

Function sequence for remote trunk closing
The remote trunk closing feature comprises the following partial functions:

Function sequence for remote trunk closing via driver trunk lid control button
Actuation of the driver trunk lid control button is read in by the left front door control unit (N69/1). The left front door control unit transmits this signal via the interior CAN (CAN B).

The trunk lid control unit reads in this signal and then actuates the trunk lid control electric motor (M51/3m1) in the closing direction. At the same time the trunk lid lock element (M14/31) is set to the upper position by the trunk lid control unit.
If the arrested rotary tumbler is recognized by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) via the trunk lid rotary tumbler switch (M14/7s1), actuation of the trunk lid control electric motor is interrupted. The trunk lid control electric motor is then moved to the initial position. Then the trunk lid lock element is actuated by the trunk lid control unit and the trunk lid is completely closed.

the trunk lid can only be closed manually via the driver trunk lid control button.
I. e. the trunk lid is only closed as long as the driver trunk lid control button is actuated.

It also possible to unlock the trunk lid with the driver trunk lid control button.

Function sequence for remote trunk closing via trunk lid control button
Actuation of the trunk lid control button is read in by the rear SAM control unit and transmitted tot he trunk lid lock via the interior CAN. The trunk lid control unit then actuates the trunk lid control electric motor in the closing direction. If the arrested rotary tumbler is recognized by the rear SAM control unit via the trunk lid rotary tumbler switch, actuation of the trunk lid control electric motor is interrupted. The trunk lid control electric motor is then moved to the initial position.
Then the trunk lid lock element is actuated by the trunk lid control unit and the trunk lid is completely closed.

The trunk lid is closed automatically with the trunk lid control button. I. e. it is sufficient to actuate the trunk lid control button once.

On vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go, the trunk lid control button (S62/36) is a two-piece element.
The function sequence is the same as described previously for actuation of the left button.
When the right button is actuated, the function sequence is the same as described above, then the vehicle is locked in addition. Detailed information on the locking operation is given in the separate Keyless Go function description.

Function sequence for position recognition
If the trunk lid is closed via the trunk lid control electric motor, the current position of the trunk lid is recognized by the trunk lid position sensor (B24/16) and transmitted to the remote trunk closing control unit.

Function sequence for antilock device
If an obstacle is recognized when closing the trunk lid with the trunk lid position sensor, the closing operation is interrupted immediately and the drive for the trunk lid control electric motor is reversed.

When trunk lid control electric motor is reversed, the trunk lid is opened mechanically with spring force and not electrically. The trunk lid control electric motor is moved to the initial position.

If the remote trunk closing control unit, the trunk lid control electric motor or trunk lid position sensor is replaced, it is necessary to renormalize the remote trunk closing with the diagnosis tester.
