Antitheft alarm system (ATA), general
The antitheft alarm system (ATA) monitors all relevant inputs after locking the vehicle with the central locking (CL). If a change of status is detected at one of the monitored inputs, an acoustic and visual alarm is given.
The rear SAM control unit with rear fuse and relay module (N10/2) has the master function for the ATA.

The ATA, when armed, monitors:
- Doors
- Trunk lid (model 212.0) or liftgate (model 212.2)
- Side windows and rear window (model 212.2 with code (882) Interior monitoring (only with ATA))
- Engine hood
- Alarm siren (up to 31.5.10, as of 1.6.10 without code (494) USA version)
- Position change of vehicle (tow-away protection) (with code (882) Interior monitoring (only with ATA))
- Motion in interior compartment (interior protection) (with code (882) Interior monitoring (only with ATA))
