Test 1: Check component M4/7 (Engine and AC electric suction fan with integrated control).

1. Check component M4/7 (Engine and AC electric suction fan with integrated control).

Test 1.1: Check component M4/7 (Engine and AC electric suction fan with integrated control) by means of actuation.

Test 1.2: Test PWM signal for operating the suction fan.

1.1. Check component M4/7 (Engine and AC electric suction fan with integrated control) by means of actuation.
No current fault codes for the following components may be present

- B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor)
- Air conditioning via CAN bus

YES

Test 1.1.1: Test PWM signal for operating the suction fan.

Test 1.1.2: Check component B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor).

Test prerequisite

- The ignition must be switched on.
Test sequence

- Check power supply at connector of component M4/7 (Engine and AC electric suction fan with integrated control) (pin 2) against ground.
Specified value

- Voltage[11.0...15.0] V

Test sequence

- Switch off ignition.
- Connect socket box (35-pin) to component N3/9 (CDI control unit).
- Connect socket box (126-pin) to component N3/9 (CDI control unit).
- Switch on ignition.
Warning!

- Connection A of test cable 108 may NOT be connected to connection B of the 126-pin socket box (050).
Continue to test with button F2







Test prerequisite

- Coolant temperature < 80° C
- Charger connected(The battery voltage must be higher than 12.5 V.)
- Ignition ON
- Engine not running
- Vehicle stationary
- There is no fault code present for component B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor).
- The fuses of component M4/7 (Engine and AC electric suction fan with integrated control) are OK.
Actual values:
- Coolant temperature:Warning! Communication with ECU required.
Continue with button F2

1.1.2. Check component B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor).
Check actual value B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor).
Note

- If fault exists, vehicle continues operating with substitute value from the temperature model.
Test prerequisite

- Switch on ignition.
Status of relevant actual value:
- Coolant temperature:Warning! Communication with ECU required.
Specified value

- If the connection is unplugged at component B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor), the value is approx. -45° C.

The actual values are okay.Further procedure

- Test wiring and plug connections between control module N3/9 (CDI control unit) and B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor) for Loose contact, repair or replace if necessary.

Test prerequisite

- Switch off ignition.
- Detach coupling at component B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor).
- Connect adapter cable no. 220 589 00 99 34 to engine wiring harness B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor).
- Measure direct voltage with multimeter between sockets (B11/4x1) 2 and (B11/4x1) 1
- Switch on ignition.
Specified value

- Voltage[3.1...3.5] V

- Is the measurement value OK?







YES
Check internal resistance of component B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor).

- Switch off ignition.
- Connect adapter cable no. 220 589 00 99 34 at component B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor).
- Test resistance.
- Measure resistance with multimeter between sockets (B11/4) 2 and (B11/4) 1
Specified value

- Resistor[20° C]: [2945...3240]ohms
- Resistor[60° C]: [609...653]ohms
- Resistor[90° C]: [229...242]ohms
- Resistor[120° C]: [99...103]ohms

The measurement value is OK.Further procedure

- Test signal line between components N3/9 (CDI control unit) and B11/4 (Coolant temperature sensor) for Open circuit.
- Check component Thermostat.

Proceed to 'Actuation' with F2
