Affected functions:

- Power generation

-------------------------------------------------

Test 1: Test voltage supply.

1. Test voltage supply.

Test 1.1: If fault codes for several sensors are displayed at the same time, then one sensor has a short circuit to GND or to POS at the component or at the lead.

Test 1.2: Check component B96/1 (Left intake port shutoff end position sensor).

Test 1.3: Check component B96/2 (Right intake port shutoff end position sensor).

1.1. If fault codes for several sensors are displayed at the same time, then one sensor has a short circuit to GND or to POS at the component or at the lead.

1.1. No further information available.

1.2. Check component B96/1 (Left intake port shutoff end position sensor).
Check power supply of component B96/1 (Left intake port shutoff end position sensor).

- B96/1 (Left intake port shutoff end position sensor)
- B96/2 (Right intake port shutoff end position sensor)
Commercially available tools

- Measuring system Adapter cable PAL 029
Test prerequisite

- The actuation was not okay.
Test sequence

- Switch off ignition.
- Detach coupling at component B96/1 (Left intake port shutoff end position sensor).
- Connect adapter cable to engine wiring harness.
- Measure direct voltage with multimeter between sockets (B96/1x1) 3 and (B96/1x1) 1
- Switch on ignition.
Specified value

- Voltage[4.75...5.25] V
Question

- Is the measurement value OK?

YES

- Socket box 129 589 00 21 00
Test sequence

- Switch off ignition.
- Connect 126-pole socket box at engine wiring harness.
- Measure resistance with multimeter between socket (M.34) 34 of the 126-pole socket box tester and (B96/1x1) 2
Specified value

- Resistor< 1ohms
Question

- Is the measurement value OK?

YES
The measurement value is OK.Further procedure

- If faults with high fault frequency counters or customer complaints are stored, inspect cables and plug connections between control module N3/9 (CDI control unit) and component B96/1 (Left intake port shutoff end position sensor) for loose contact and corrosion.
- Replace component B96/1 (Left intake port shutoff end position sensor).
End of test

NO
The measurement value is not OK.Possible cause and remedy

- Inspect cables, electrical connections and plug connections for damage, correct connection, loose contact and corrosion, and repair or replace if necessary.
End of test

NO
The measurement value is not OK.Possible cause and remedy

- Test wiring of voltage supply between component B96/1 (Left intake port shutoff end position sensor) and component N3/9 (CDI control unit).
End of test
