Timeout during transition from regeneration to normal operation
Possible cause:
- Diesel particulate filter
Affected functions:
- Power generation
-------------------------------------------------
Test 1: Check component Diesel particulate filter.
1. Check component Diesel particulate filter.
Important note:Should regeneration be performed due to oil loss (e.g. in turbocharger) or is oil present in the exhaust system?Note:Any oil present in the exhaust system burns due to the increased temperatures during diesel particulate filter regeneration. This can cause heavy smoke formation. If an oil loss is known of, regeneration may not be started manually.
YES
Replacement of component Diesel particulate filter
Important note:Burnt oil can hinder visibility for the following traffic. For this reason, regeneration of the diesel particulate filter may not be performed.Further procedure
- Make a printout of the following screen page.
- Replacement of component Diesel particulate filter
- Diesel particulate filter; New Initializing

Safety note
- Please note the safety information and descriptions for use of STAR DIAGNOSIS equipment in mobile applications, listed in Service Information [ SI 58.40-P-0007A ].
IMPORTANT NOTE
- Where possible, do not drop below a speed of 35 km/h during the drive.
- Engine speeds below 2000 and above 4000 rpm should be avoided during the trip.
- If the vehicle stops for a short period, the exhaust temperature can be maintained at a high level via the engine speed.
- In this case, the engine speed must be approx. 2500 rpm with the parking brake actuated and selector lever position 'P' or 'N' engaged.
- If the vehicle idles for more than 90 s, regeneration of the diesel particulate filter is interrupted.
Further procedure
- Start engine.
- Start drive for regeneration of diesel particulate filter.
