Component Identification:






Location
The overhead control panel control unit is located in the front section of the headliner.

Task
The overhead control panel control unit has the following tasks:
^ Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuation of components
^ Voltage supply to components

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Wiper/inside rearview mirror LIN (LIN 2)
^ Interior CAN (CAN B)

Direct line
The following sensors are read in via a direct line:
- Hall sensor 1, tilting/sliding roof (M12b1)
- Hall sensor 2, tilting/sliding roof (M12b2)
- Interior temperature sensor with integrated fan (N70b1)
- Tilting/sliding roof switch
- Rear dome lamp switch
- Interior lamp automatic function switch
- Front dome lamp switch
- Left front reading lamp switch
- Right front reading lamp switch
- On vehicles with code (882) Interior monitoring (with ATA only):
- Interior protection button (N70s8)
- Tow-away protection button (N70s9)

Wiper/inside rearview mirror LIN
The overhead control panel control unit reads in the signals of the following sensors and makes them available on the interior CAN:
- On vehicles with code (249) Automatic dimming inside and outside rearview mirrors including folding outside mirror without code (494) USA version or code (249) Automatic dimming inside rearview mirror and outside mirror (driver) and code (494) USA version:
- Forward automatic mirror dimming light sensor (A67h1)
- Rearward automatic mirror dimming light sensor (A67h2)
- Mirror dimming (A67h3)

- Garage door opener (A67n2) (with code (232) Garage door opener with frequency 284-390 MHz)
- Rain/light sensor (B38/2)

Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN.

The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following connection:
^ Direct line

Direct line
The following components are actuated via a direct line:
- Left reading lamp (A67e1)
- Right reading lamp (A67e2)
- Left front interior lamp
- Right front interior lamp
- Left sun visor mirror lamp (E14/1) via the left front mirror lamp switch (S101)
- Right sun visor mirror lamp (E14/2) via the right front mirror lamp switch (S102)

The housing of the overhead control panel control unit also contains the following components:
- On vehicles with code (882) Interior monitoring (with ATA only):
- Interior protection and tow-away protection control unit (N26/6)
- Interior protection receiver (N26/6a1)
- Left interior protection transmitter (N26/6b1)
- Right interior protection transmitter (N26/6b2)

- On vehicles with code (359) TELE AID emergency call system:
- Emergency call system button (S93/3)
- MB-Info and breakdown assistance button (S93/6)
