Ensure that the wiring harnesses are not damaged by chafing or being trapped otherwise the appropriate wiring harness must be replaced.
1 Clip reversing camera (B84/3), as shown, into the cutout provided in the liftgate and detach the protective foil.
Guide electrical line into interior of liftgate.
2 Detach cable duct (4) in area of liftgate.
3 Route reversing camera wiring harness (2), along given wiring harnesses, from the liftgate wiper motor through the cable duct and the breakthrough in the roof frame and fix in place.
4 Route gray/blue line (gr/bl) to left backup lamp.
5 Make electrical connector for reversing camera (B84/3x1).
To do so, connect black, 4-pin coupling of reversing camera wiring harness to black, 4-pin plug connector of reversing camera.
6 Wrap felt tape around electrical connector for reversing camera (B84/3x1).
7 Use cable ties to fasten electrical connector for reversing camera (B84/3x1) into place.
8 Connect gray/blue line (gr/bl) of left backup lamp with gray/blue line (gr/bl) of reversing camera wiring harness using a voltage distributor (3).
The potential distributor (3) can be obtained from the wiring harness repair kit.
9 Wrap felt tape round potential distributor (3).
10 Fasten gray/blue line (gr/bl) of left backup lamp together with gray/blue line (gr/bl) of reversing camera wiring harness in place using cable ties.
11 Route reversing camera wiring harness (2) from breakthrough in roof frame to D-pillar along given wiring harnesses and fix in place using cable ties.
12 Route wiring harness for reversing camera (2) along existing wiring harnesses from D-pillar to rear-end floor and fasten in place using cable ties.
13 Connect black 4-pin coupling for reversing camera wiring harness (2) on the power supply module wiring harness (N66/10).
14 Connect white, 6-pin coupling for reversing camera wiring harness (1) to power supply module wiring harness (N66/10).
15 Route wiring harness (1) along existing wiring harnesses to C pillar and fix in place.
16 Connect brown line (br) to ground point, left rear wheel arch (W6).
17 Route red/blue line (rt/bl) along given wiring harnesses to C pillar on right and fasten in place.
18 Route red/blue line (rt/bl) from right C-pillar along existing wiring harnesses to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and fix in place with cable ties.
Only perform operation steps 19 to 23 if the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) is populated with a green fuse carrier (5).
19 Remove green fuse carrier (5) from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
20 Connect red/blue line (rt/bl) with the line (5) in contact cavity 3 of the green fuse carrier for the vehicle wiring harness using a potential distributor (6).
Perform operation step only when contact cavity 3 of the fuse carrier (5) is used. The potential distributor (6) can be obtained from the wiring harness repair kit.
21 Open lock on green fuse carrier (5).
Perform operation step only when contact cavity 3 of the green fuse carrier (5) is not used.
22 Fit a suitable "STP" contact to the red/blue line (rt/bl).
Perform operation step only when contact cavity 3 of the green fuse carrier (5) is not used. The "STP" contact is available in the wiring harness repair kit.
23 Install red/blue line (red/blue) into contact cavity 3 of green fuse carrier (5).
Perform operation step only when contact cavity 3 of the fuse carrier (5) is not used.
24 Install red/blue line (red/blue) into contact cavity 3 of green fuse carrier (5) included in package contents.
Perform operation step only when the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module is (N10/2) not populated with a green fuse carrier (5).
25 Insert a 7.5 A fuse into contact cavity 3 of green fuse carrier (5).
26 Fit green fuse carrier (5) into slot with green markings on rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
27 Route wiring harness (1) from C-pillar into given cable ducts along given wiring harnesses to COMAND controller unit and fix in place using cable ties.
Operation step 28 with vehicles without code (518) Media Interface and without code (610) Night View Assist.
28 Fit green 2-pin coupling (7) of wiring harness (1) into green slot of COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
Use the green 2-pin coupling (7) included in the delivery contents.
Operation step 29 with vehicles with code (518) Media Interface or with code (610) Night View Assist.
29 Remove green 2-pin coupling (7) from COMAND controller unit (A40/3), install wiring harness (1) into green 2-pin coupling (7) and plug green 2-pin coupling (7) onto green slot of COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
Operation steps 30 to 32 with vehicles with code (518) Media Interface and with code (610) Night View Assist.
30 Detach green 2-pin coupling (7) from COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
31 Remove media interface coupling from contact cavity "1" of given green 2-pin coupling (7), wrap with felt tape and strap down onto the vehicle wiring harness.
32 Then insert wiring harness (1) into free slot of given green 2-pin coupling (7) and plug green 2-pin coupling (7) onto green slot of COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
The media interface video feature is no longer available.
